The police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a doctor after an accident that took place at Jalan Kolam Air Lama in Ampang.

The doctor, a 67-year-old male was said to be driving alone when he realised that he was rear ended by another vehicle at about 10:30am on Monday, March 20.

Leading automotive lubricant company Castrol once again hosts their Castrol Hari Mekanik. Celebrated annually in March, this is the fifth time the event is held and this year, it has the theme “Celebrating Malaysian Mechanics”.

The theme was curated as an initiative to show appreciation and raise awareness towards the unsung heroes of automobile experts in Malaysia. It kicked off this year with a unique one-of-a-kind video entitled “A World Without Mechanics” and was showcased on social media platforms, YouTube and Facebook.

According to reports online, several vehicles in Damansara Damai, Jalan Ipoh and Sungai Buloh were damaged by falling trees due to the downpours that have been occurring lately.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Morni Mamat, 15 fallen trees were reported that affected six vehicles that were parked by the roadside.

UMW Toyota Motor has officially launched the all-new 4th generation Toyota Vios with two variants  – Vios 1.5G and Vios 1.5E. The prices (without insurance) are RM95,500 and RM89,600, respectively. Since order-taking began February 24, over 5,000 orders have been received nationwide. These will join the more than 505,000 units that have been sold over the previous 3 generations since 2003.

As before, there’s only a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Dual VVT-i engine with an output of 104 ps/138 Nm. The automatic transmission (no manual choice now) is a new 7-speed CVT with Shiftmatic manual selection. Paddle shifters are available in the Vios 1.5G and there are 4 driving modes to suit different driving preferences and conditions.

With the government’s focus on vehicle electrification as one way to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the private sector has many opportunities to participate and help to develop various areas from the sale of zero emissions vehicles to being energy providers. Supporting areas, such as the network of charging points, need to be developed quickly to accelerate adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).

Local tech start-up Powered by RISE is one of the many new companies that is getting involved with their new product called ONE RISE. It is said to be one of Malaysia’s first EV charging stations that is fully equipped with its own payment system.

Honda Malaysia will launch 3 all-new models as well as one updated model during 2023 with the aim of achieving a total sales volume of 80,000 units. With the Malaysian Automotive Association forecasting a Total Industry Volume of 650,000 units for this year, this would give Honda a 12.3% market share.

The target is similar to that of 2022 but last year, it exceeded the number by 290 units to take a share of 11.1%. The achievement kept Honda in the No.1 position in the non-national passenger car segment (which excludes pick-up trucks and commercial vehicles) for the ninth consecutive year since 2014. During the year, the brand also recorded its highest ever sales in Malaysia with more than 10,500 units delivered nationwide.

Speaking to the media at an event recently, Honda Malaysia President & Chief Operating Officer Sarly Adle Sarkum said that as part of the company’s strategic business direction, it will launch a new model in an entirely new segment during the third quarter of 2023.
