Sam Ke Ting Wins Appeal, Leaves Court A Free Woman

6 years ago, in February 2017, a young’s woman’s nightmare in Johor Bahru began when she was involved in an accident. 22 years old then, Sam Ke Ting was driving home in the early hours of the morning when she unexpectedly encountered a group of cyclists riding along a hilly and winding road that was also said to have poor lighting. Her car crashed into the 8 teenage cyclists who died as a result of severe injuries.

Following the accident, which she pleaded not guilty to, there was a court case where she was acquitted. The prosecution appealed against the judgement and on this second occasion, she was again acquitted. The Johor Bahru Magistrate’s Court upheld its decision as the prosecution had failed to prove their case again and reasonable doubt arose, based on all the evidence presented earlier.

BMW iX1 Available For Registration In Malaysia

BMW Malaysia has made its first fully electric SUV, the BMW iX1 available for registration of interest (ROI). This was revealed on BMW Malaysia’s website just yesterday.

The iX1 made its debut in June 2022 and is available in Malaysia in the xDrive30 form.

Audi A3 Sedan And Q2 Now Come Standard With Audi Assurance Package

The #AudiOnTheMove aftersales campaign was recently launched by Audi distributor PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM).

The campaign promotes two programmes, that being the Audi Repair Package for vehicles six years and older, and the Audi Plus package for vehicles five years and younger.

This is to ensure that Audi owners have a worry-free driving experience.

Sime Darby Motors Opens Multi-Brand Body & Paint Centre In Penang

Sime Darby Motors, which began with just a few brands, today handles 8 passenger vehicle brands, as well as sells pre-owned vehicles (through Sime Darby Auto Selection). The brands are BMW, MINI, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford, Hyundai and more recently, BYD.

While each of these brands has their own authorised aftersales centres around the country to serve their customers, Sime Darby Motors has also invested in its own centralised aftersales service facilities. For example, it has a Body & Paint (B&P) centre in Bukit Jelutong, Selangor to serve customers in the Klang Valley and the Sime Darby Auto Selection Service Centre provides services for post-warranty vehicles.

Now it has also opened a B&P centre on Penang island to serve customers in the northern region. Costing RM3 million, the facility covers approximately 20,000 sq ft and can service and repair up to 80 vehicles a month which require body repair or refinishing work.

Record Month For Perodua With 27.5% Increase In Quarterly Sales Volume

During the final month of the first quarter of 2023, Perodua made a big push in production and sales to cross the 30,000-unit level, setting records in the process. The two plants completed 33,666 vehicles while 32,179 vehicles were delivered nationwide.

The March numbers added to those of January and February took first quarter production to 84,800 units while sales were 78,564 units. These represented increases of 33.9% and 27.5%, respectively, over the volumes reported for the same period in 2022.

No Maintenance Costs For An Extra 2 Years With Certain Volkswagen Models

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has been offering free scheduled maintenance for its models for the first 3 years and now, it is adding on 2 more years for selected models. Those who buy the Arteon R-Line, Tiguan Allspace R-Line or Elegance will now save on maintenance costs for up to 5 years (or maximum of 75,000 kms) after they buy their car.
