To celebrate the launch of the first-ever 2019 Lexus UX, a luxury compact crossover engineered for the city, Lexus partnered with designer John Elliott to create the “Sole of the UX” — custom tires inspired by his John Elliott x Nike AF1 shoe. The tires reimagine the classic silhouette of Elliott’s sneaker, embodying the spirit of clean, purposeful, and modern design. Tires that, like the crossover itself, are inspired by and designed for the city.

Revealed at Elliott’s New York Fashion Week after-party on February 9, 2019, the collaboration features an all-white UX with custom tire details inspired by Elliott’s design, including white on white layers, double-stitched leather and a stepped metal air valve evocative of his stacked metal lace tip. The first-ever UX was crafted for the city and the “modern urban explorer” — those seeking a fresh, contemporary and dynamic take on luxury driving.

“The first-ever Lexus UX was engineered and designed for the city,” said Lisa Materazzo, Lexus Vice President of Marketing“We wanted to push that concept even further by creating the ultimate homage to urban style: tires inspired by classic, street-style sneakers.”

“We were excited to merge the streetwear narrative and design cues of our Air Force 1 with a brand like Lexus. We’re thankful they’ve allowed us to use this moment to celebrate the arts and to bring extra energy to our take on a classic,” said John Elliott. “It’s fun to partner with brands that typically live outside the fashion community because it allows us to evolve and continue to push our own boundaries.”

At the event, Elliott showcased unique iterations of the John Elliott x Nike AF1 by artists Actual Source, Hassan Rahim, Matt McCormick, and Yung Jake — all pioneers in their respective fields. Using the John Elliott x Nike AF1 as their canvases, these one-of-a-kind custom sneakers were auctioned off at the event with all proceeds benefiting Inner-City Arts, an organization based in downtown Los Angeles with a mission to provide access to arts education for LA’s most underserved youth. The Lexus UX was displayed alongside four artists’ renditions of the John Elliott x Nike AF1, a nod to the spirit of collaboration.

CRT Community Charity Initiatives’ latest monthly feeding programme in the Masjid India area of KL, was held on 2nd Feb 2019. This street feeding idea was mooted with the help of Rukshan Munesinghe, the Director of My Classic Cars, Malaysia as part of its quarterly feeding initiative to give back to the less fortunate with a sumptuous meal.

Christopher Ravin, Founder of CCI says, “One way of sharing our joy is helping those in need sincerely as nowadays less and less NGO’s are providing feeding to the homeless.” CRT Community Charity Initiatives Berhad (CCI), is privately run welfare foundation, which was set up in 2005 by Christopher Ravin and family, with the objective of carrying out charitable initiatives in Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand & India for the homeless and the needy.

Besides feeding initiatives they provide medical aid, education scholarships, build ashrams, animal welfare, regular feeding programs for Orang Asli and for Tamil school children, home rental aid for elderly folks, donations for various charitable organisations.

“We have been carrying out our initiatives quietly for 2 decades, initially we were financially supporting various charitable organisations, up till the point we realised their administrative fee was too high and only a very small portion was allocated for the needy. In addition we got deceived along the way, which was why CRT Community Charity Initiatives Berhad was formed to carry out our own initiatives.”CCI.

“The reason we invited the media is because we wanted to highlight that there has been a significant drop in feeding programmes by various NGO’s since June 2018 and our aim is to encourage those blessed with good fortune and the younger generation to extend aid to the needy. For further information please refer to www.ccinitiatives.org.” said Chris Ravin.

Hyundai Motor Company has been recognized for its cutting-edge vehicle design at the world-renowned iF Design Award 2019 for the fifth straight year. The Palisade and Le Fil Rouge concept vehicle each won the Automobiles/Vehicles category at the eminent competition in the global automotive industry.

Hyundai’s record streak this year marks another milestone for the company, which continues to make strides in making premium cars affordable and available for customers worldwide. The award acknowledged Hyundai’s new flagship SUV, Palisade — a premium three-row sports utility vehicle debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year.

Palisade (above) features ground breaking capabilities and technologies for all-road driving, safety and speed. Its bold architecture, including both the interior and exterior, is also designed for maximum comfort, roominess and relaxation. Another winner went to Hyundai’s Le Fil Rouge concept car, debuted at the Geneva Motor Show 2018.

The Le Fil Rouge (below) embodies a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s sporty design spirit that was first featured in the 1974 Hyundai Coupe Concept. Exemplifying “sensuous sportiness,” the vehicle harmonizes the four fundamental design elements of proportion, architecture, styling and technology, and simultaneously combines beauty and function.

For more than 64 years, the iF Design Award has been recognized as a symbol of excellence by design professionals around the world. Organized by iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover — the world’s oldest independent design institution — the prestigious prize is bestowed upon top designers spanning various disciplines and categories. In 2019, companies from 50 countries participated in the event with 6,400 product submissions, which were judged by a jury of 67 international design experts.

The Perodua Myvi has achieved another milestone, with over 100,000 units of the third-generation model already on the road as of today. “We are glad to announce that since the third-generation Perodua Myvi’s launch in November 2017, we have delivered over 100,000 of them to happy customers – that’s an average of over 1,560 units a week,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

He added that customer feedback has been largely positive, with many of them liking the Myvi’s stylish looks, practicality, ease to drive, low running costs thanks to its frugality and economical maintenance, generous space despite its compact size, plus advanced features usually only found in more premium cars.

“The Perodua Myvi is by far the most successful model in our history. The original Myvi launched in 2005 into a market then dominated by sedans. By 2013 it had overtaken the Kancil’s all-time sales (708,000 units from 1994 to 2009) and to date, we have sold nearly 1.1 million Myvis altogether,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari. Orders for the third-generation Myvi have reached a cumulative 150,000, and Perodua continues to work hard to fulfil those orders as properly and promptly as it can.

“We thank all Malaysians for welcoming the Myvi into your homes with open arms – it really encourages and motivates us to keep improving so we can serve you better. At Perodua, we never forget that we are a People First company,” Dato’ Dr Zahari added.

Perodua closed 2018 with a record 227,243 cars sold, making it Malaysia’s leading carmaker for the 13th consecutive year. The company has sold nearly 3.5 million cars since 1994.
