A car is really an engineering marvel. It has more than 35,000 components working together to ensure it starts everyday without fail. Not only that, it can also take you to places, whether the weather is good or bad and when needed, a car can also provide you protection from harm. Now if you drive a Proton, you will get something additional – extra protection and also the fun-to-drive factor that is a result of years of experience in exceptional Ride & Handling.

“Like any other machine, your Proton needs some TLC (tender, loving, care) too and over the years, PROTON has organised the free 20-point check before our customers Balik Kampung for the festive holidays. It is quite essential for the driver’s peace of mind and this also help ensure that your loved ones who are riding with you, are kept safe and comfortable in the long journey. When you know your Proton is in the best condition, your celebration becomes even better, and your Proton car can become part of your memorable journeys in life for the long run,” said Abdul Rashid Musa, Chief Executive Officer, PROTON Edar Sdn Bhd.

Below are reasons why you should visit one of PROTON’s service centre and go for the free 20-point check. The check points can be categorised into three major areas – Engine Room, Exterior and Interior, and this complimentary service is provided to you with our current lubricant promotion for the festive season.

Your Proton expert technician will look at these points:

 Engine oil level
 Transmission fluid check
 Power steering hydraulic fluid
 Brake fluid level
 Coolant level
 Wind screen washer fluid
 Wiper blades
 Battery performance
 Front end alternator belt
 Radiator cap

Exterior…
They are round and black but they ensure you stay on the tarmac. PROTON’s technicians will help you check your:

 Tyre air pressure
 Tyre tread – PROTON recommends tread to be a minimum 1.6 mm thick
 Physical condition of the tyres – damaged tyres like a cut can be dangerous and you cannot see the back of your tyre!

Interior…
These are more intimate areas but you definitely need to have them in tip-top condition.

 Brake and clutch pedal free play
 Parking brake adjustment
 Switches, lighting and indicators
 Horn operation
 Safety belt harnesses and points
 Visual check on shock absorbers, brake and fuel pipes and lines

Now the checks do not take a lot of time and there are devices and tools required to check on the items, which means it is best to take your Proton to the service centres and let the experts do it for you!

On-site 20-point check…

Heartwarming this… Perodua distributed 100 GearUp child seats to motorists at three highway rest areas in Peninsular Malaysia recently, as part of its on-going five-year Road Safety Campaign which was launched last October. The Toddler seats were gifted to lucky Perodua drivers travelling with children aged roughly between two and six, at Petronas stations at Rawang (PLUS), Bentong (Karak Highway) and Seremban (KL-Seremban Highway) rest areas.

“This is the first time Perodua is organising such an event in collaboration with our partner Petronas and our panel of insurers,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin. “We took this special initiative because we care for the well-being of our customers and their families. We hope Malaysians will come to realise how important it is to keep children properly secured in child seats while on the move,” he added.

Introduced concurrently with the Road Safety Campaign in October, Perodua’s GearUp child seats are available in two models. Both are ISOFIX compatible and satisfy ECE R44 safety standards. The Infant seat, priced at RM622.50 (RM640 in East Malaysia), is suitable for infants weighing up to 13 kg, while the Toddler seat, priced at RM736 (RM754.50 in East Malaysia), is designed for children weighing 9-36 kg. All prices are introductory with 0% Goods and Services Tax (GST), valid until 30 June.

“Over two million vehicles are expected to hit the roads this Raya. That’s a lot of vehicles, and naturally, there is a higher risk of collisions and accidents,” Dato’ Dr Zahari said. “Seat belts are designed to restrain adults and not children. Please secure your young ones in child seats, ideally in the back seat, and do not place them on your laps when the vehicle is in motion. Always buckle up in the front and in the back, use your turn signals and do not operate your mobile devices on the move. Above all, drive carefully and have a safe journey back to your hometowns,” he continued.

Wow, just wow… well done Perodua! – Chris Wee.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) has introduced the “Best Deal Ever 0% GST” campaign, aimed at supporting customers’ purchase before the Hari Raya celebrations. The Campaign will run throughout the month of June with GST set at 0% and customers will also be entitled to the on-going Duit Raya Savings.

MForce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd has introduced one of the fastest growing bike brands in Europe, Brixton Motorcycles. The brand from Austria is inspired by retro roadster motorcycles in their design. Brixton now has over 500 dealers worldwide and now Mforce has joined them as one of the dealers in the world.

At its first presentation at the Vietnam Motorcycle Show in May 2017, an incredible 500 bikes were sold to end customers at the exhibition stand alone. Following their huge success in Europe and Vietnam, KSR Group is close to signing contracts with importers from almost 50 other countries around the globe. On the production side, investments in a new, state-of-the-art factory have already been made, in order to meet global demand.

Brixton are offering 3 models in Malaysia which are BX150 (above), BX150X (below) and BX150R (top main image). The BX150 is a classic motorcycle with a traditional design, it comes with 2 color options which are green or grey. The BX150X is a scrambler bike which is more for that off-road riding feel, it comes with 2 color options which are matte green or matte black. For BX150R, designs are inspired by retro race motorcycles or as we known now as café racers, 2 color options to choose from which are red or silver.

All the models are equipped with the same 149cc, fuel-injected4-stroke, 1 cylinder engine. Maximum torque of 11.9Nm @ 6000rpm, whereas the maximum energy output is 8.7kW (16bhp) @ 8000rpm. Emissions wise, this engine is of Euro3 standards. It is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. Disc brakes front and rear feature a combined braking system (CBS) and fuel-wise, the bikes come with a 14-litre fuel tank.

The bikes are equipped with telescopic front-forks and twin-shock rear suspension. The gross weight for this bike is 157kg. It also has a digital speedometer, LED signal lights and also LED daytime running lights.

Price wise, the BX150 sells for RM8988.00, BX150X is at RM9288.00 and the BX150R is selling at RM9588.00. All stated prices are excluding road tax and insurance.

About Brixton Motorcycles…

No Brixton Motorcycle is the same. Okay, they are when they come off the production line. At this point, in fact, they are identical. Identically designed, specs & finished to the highest engineering standards. Identically distributed, marketed and sold. It’s our riders that make each Brixton unique. The decisions they make. The path they choose. The lives they live. Where to go with their Brixton. What direction to take. Who to ride along with. Now, before you know it, it’s not the same bike anymore. Now it’s truly a Brixton. As individual as the people who ride them.

The future of sporty sustainable mobility has just gotten another step closer, since Porsche has announced that the series production of the first purely electric Porsche is set to begin next year, and in preparation for this, the vehicle has now been given its official name: The “Mission E” concept study, the name currently used to describe Porsche’s complete electric offering, will be known as the Taycan.

The name can be roughly translated as “lively young horse”, referencing the imagery at the heart of the Porsche crest, which has featured a leaping steed since 1952.

“Our new electric sports car is strong and dependable; it’s a vehicle that can consistently cover long distances and that epitomises freedom”, explains Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. The oriental name also signifies the launch of the first electric sports car with the soul of a Porsche. Porsche announced the name for its first purely electric series as part of the “70 years of sports cars” ceremony.

Two permanently excited synchronous motors (PSM) with a system output of over 600 hp (440 kW) accelerate the electric sports car to 100 km/h in well under 3.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in under twelve seconds. This performance is in addition to a continuous power level that is unprecedented among electric vehicles: Multiple jump starts are possible in succession without loss of performance, and the vehicle’s maximum range is over 500 km in accordance with the NEDC.

Names with real meaning
At Porsche, the vehicle names generally have a concrete connection with the corresponding model and its characteristics: The name Boxster describes the combination of the boxer engine and roadster design; Cayenne denotes fieriness, the Cayman is incisive and agile, and the Panamera offers more than a standard Gran Turismo, which is what allowed it to win the Carrera Panamericana long-distance race. The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger, with connotations of suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics.

Future investment doubled
Porsche plans to invest more than six billion euro in electromobility by 2022, doubling the expenditure that the company had originally planned. Of the additional three billion euro, some 500 million euro will be used for the development of Taycan variants and derivatives, around one billion euro for electrification and hybridisation of the existing product range, several hundred million for the expansion of production sites, plus around 700 million euro for new technologies, charging infrastructure and smart mobility.

Extensive modifications and expansion at the Zuffenhausen headquarters
At the Porsche headquarters in Zuffenhausen, a new paint shop, dedicated assembly area for the Taycan and a conveyor bridge for transporting the painted bodies and drive units to the final assembly area are currently being constructed. The existing engine plant is being expanded to manufacture electric drives and the body shop will also be developed. Investment is also planned for the Weissach Development Centre. Production of the Taycan is creating around 1,200 new jobs in Zuffenhausen alone.

“70 years of the Porsche sports car” celebrations
The sports car manufacturer is celebrating its anniversary with numerous activities throughout 2018. For the weekend of June 16–17, Porsche will host employees, local residents and prospective customers at a celebration in and around the plant in Stuttgart. The event will include activities for visitors both young and old, plant tours, music, food trucks, live coverage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the broadcast of the World Cup game between Germany and Mexico. Entry is free of charge.
