To start off 2023, BMW Malaysia has launched three updated variants of the BMW 3-Series (G20) – the 320i M Sport, 330i M Sport and 330e M Sport. All three models are assembled locally at the BMW facility in the Inokom manufacturing complex in Kedah.

Prices for the new models are as follow: BMW 320i M Sport – RM283,800; BMW 330i M Sport – RM317,800; and BMW 330e M Sport – RM298,800.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) finished off 2022 with a record high in sales, delivering 24,017 vehicles. Although the company’s range in Malaysia is limited to 2 models, they are so popular that, in 2022, the volume increased by 37.3% over the 2021 figure.

The record volume puts Mitsubishi Motors in third place among the non-national brands and with the Total Industry Volume expected to be over 700,000 units when the Malaysian Automotive Association releases the year’s data, the Mitsubishi Motors share is estimated to be 3.3%.

In 2007, the total sales of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars passed 1,000 units, and within 15 years, the annual volume would steadily grow to reach 6,021 units in 2022. This is the first time in the company’s 118-year history that its sales have exceeded 6,000 in a single 12-month period. The value of Bespoke commissions also reached record levels, while demand for all Rolls Royce models was exceptionally strong, with advance orders secured far into 2023.

The impressive growth – 8% over the 2021 volume – was achieved by sales in almost all regions. The Americas was the largest single region for Rolls-Royce, while Greater China took the second largest number of vehicles. The Asia-Pacific region also achieved higher sales than ever before.

Unless governments ban cars with combustion engines altogether, we’re going to have them around for some time to come. While the mainstream carmakers are rushing towards electrification, even for high-performance models, specialists like Hennessey Performance are still continuing to develop hypercars with the good old internal combustion engine.

The Texas-based company is well known for high-performance cars and has been making hypercars for a few years now. Its latest creation is a new, lighter, track-focused version of the Venom F5 called the Venom F5 Revolution Coupe. This is an apex predator on a racing circuit, with the claim of being the most powerful pure-combustion hypercar in the world.

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) closed 2022 with another record sales volume with 3,194 vehicles delivered to customers nationwide. The achievement was the seventh consecutive year of sales growth for the Swedish brand, with the 43% increase over the 2021 volume also being a record.

Around 75% of all models sold were SUVs which, like the sedans and stationwagons, were assembled locally at Volvo’s own plant in Shah Alam, Selangor. Some of the output from this plant also goes to neighbouring countries as it is a regional production hub for Volvo.
