BMW M has one last present for fans to celebrate its 50th anniversary – a modern version of the BMW 3.0 CSL which became one of the most successful racing cars of its era. The legendary sportscar both for the racetrack and the road was a puristic car that appeared in the founding year of BMW Motorsport GmbH.

The racing version won the European Touring Car Championship during its inaugural season in 1973 – and repeated this title win 5 more times. The road version of the racing car which was also known as 3.0 CSL (the initials for ‘Coupe, Sport, Lightweight) had aggressive bodywork with a rear wing that got it the nickname of ‘Batmobile’.

Now BMW M will build the 21st century 3.0 CSL which will be the most exclusive special model the company has ever produced. No more than 50 units will be available so it will have the status of rarity right away.

Although most people would only know of Skoda when the Czech Republic is mentioned, the country had many other automakers before World War II but almost all no longer existed the 1940s. Under communist rule until the late 1980s, only Skoda and Tatra were designated to make passenger cars but there was also another company which was directed to make commercial vehicles.

This was Praga which has a history going back to the late 1800s as a heavy industrial manufacturer of everything from bridges to steam trains. It moved into vehicle production in the early 1900s, making its first car in 1907, and grew to be a major manufacturer of cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles and aircraft. Praga-built trucks, in particular, dominated the roads in the firm’s native Czechoslovakia.

With the fall of Communism in Czechoslovakia in 1989, Praga – still a major presence around Central Europe – was able to set its own agenda again as a privately owned company. While still specializing in trucks, it has also been making motocross motorcycles, racing karts and even an aircraft.

It has now unveiled a hypercar inspired by the Praga Alfa car which won the important 1933 1000 Miles of Czechoslovakia road race 89 years ago. Praga is no stranger to high performance, having re-entered the racing car market 10 years ago with its R4S and R1 cars. These are winning events in one-make, mixed prototype and mixed endurance race series in Australia, Dubai, the UK and USA.

Fuel prices still unchanged, even after the elections have finished (or have they?). However, there is no new government formed yet due to issues which Malaysians are well aware of. So the caretaker government cannot start any new policies that may affect fuel prices although the guidance is usually by the long-established Automatic Pricing Mechanism.

Abarth, part of the Stellantis Group, was originally the performance brand of Fiat, which had acquired the company in 1971. From then on, the company (which was established in 1949) adapted Fiat models to be higher performance variants which were sold under its own brand name. An exception was the 124 Spider produced between 2015 and 2019.which was adapted from the 4th generation Mazda MX-5.

Like AMG and M GmbH, the performance brands of Mercedes-Benz and BMW, Abarth has also to start its electrification journey as the auto industry as a whole has committed towards carbon neutrality over the next few decades. Even companies like Ferrari and Lamborghini have been forced to start switching to zero emissions powertrains whether they like to or not.

With the new 500e, Abarth offers its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) which is adapted from the Fiat 500e which went on sale in early 2020. However, being a performance brand, Abarth has not just taken the Fiat model and out on its badge, which is characterized by a scorpion. Just as Porsche and BMW M made sure that their electric models have high performance worthy of their badges, Abarth has also given its version an extra measure of performance.

Aftersales support is an important part of customer satisfaction and that means ensuring that required parts for maintenance or repair are readily available at service centres. As Mazda Motor Corporation continues its progress after the challenging COVID-19 pandemic years, it has updated its mid-term management plan and management policy up to 2030. And despite the highly uncertain business environment, the carmaker is renewing its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality in all its operations by 2050.

In recent years, the environment in which the auto industry operates has changed dramatically, particularly in Europe, with the growth of electrified products and the associated regulatory demands. To be able to flexibly respond to these future changes, Mazda has a 3-phase plan which will see it spending up to 1.5 trillion yen (around RM48,600,000,000) during this decade.
