A passenger aboard an Electric Train Service (ETS) bound for Ipoh triggered the emergency brake mid-journey, resulting in a significant two-hour delay. The incident, which took place on 12 October 2024, is currently under investigation by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).
The train, which departed from KL Sentral at 9:40 p.m., was scheduled to reach Ipoh by 12:16 a.m. However, the improper use of the emergency brake prolonged the journey, with the train arriving in Ipoh at approximately 2:00 a.m.
KTMB’s Group CEO, Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, confirmed that the incident was recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV) and a detailed report is being prepared for submission to the Land Public Transport Agency.
