Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in the country, has officially launched the sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck, setting a new benchmark for performance, design, and functionality in the segment.
Available in five variants, the all-new Triton is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, designed to meet the needs of both adventurous individuals and business owners with its robust capabilities and advanced technology.
Powertrain & Performance
The range-topping Triton Athlete variant is equipped with a 2.4L Hyperpower two-stage turbocharged diesel engine, capable of producing 204PS and 470Nm of torque. This engine offers a balance of high performance and efficiency. Other variants of the Triton are powered by a 2.4L 4N16 Turbo Diesel engine, generating 184PS and 430Nm of torque.
Both six-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions are available, offering smoother ride quality by minimising engine vibration.
New Frame Chassis
The all-new Triton is built on a newly developed frame chassis, designed with high-tensile steel to provide superior strength and durability. The chassis boasts a 65% larger cross-sectional area compared to the previous model, resulting in 40% greater bending rigidity and 60% increased torsional rigidity.
4WD System for Versatile Driving
Mitsubishi Motors’ advanced Super Select 4WD-ll system is featured in the Triton Athlete, offering a range of drive modes such as Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock to suit various terrains. The Easy Select 4WD system is included in other variants, allowing drivers to easily switch between 2WD and 4WD modes.
The Triton Athlete also features Active Yaw Control (AYC), improving cornering performance and providing enhanced traction on slippery surfaces.
Aggressive “Beast Mode” Design
In terms of styling, the all-new Triton showcases a bold Dynamic Shield front grille design, with L-shaped LED daytime running lights that give the vehicle a commanding road presence. The rear features T-shaped taillights, emphasizing the truck’s width and solid stance. Inside, the interior is crafted with geometric shapes and metallic finishes to offer a modern, high-tech feel.
The Triton Athlete also comes equipped with a wireless charger and USB charging ports for added convenience.
Safety Features
Selected variants of the Triton come with a suite of advanced safety features, including Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist. Other standard safety features include Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC).
