Aston Martin is shaking up the mid-cycle facelift game with the refreshed DBX 707, prioritising an almost entirely new cabin experience over external design or powertrain enhancements. While the exterior remains largely unchanged, the focus is on addressing customer feedback regarding the outdated interior and user interface.

Executive chairman Lawrence Stroll identified cabin architecture and user interface as the primary concerns among DBX owners, leading to a significant overhaul of the interior. The redesigned cabin now features Aston Martin’s latest infotainment system, previously seen in the DB12, aimed at enhancing the overall driving experience.

Underpinning this extensive suite of changes is the formidable hardware package for which the DBX707 is renowned. Star of the show is the 707PS and 900Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and 9-speed ‘wet clutch’ automatic gearbox. Mated to a sophisticated all-wheel drive system capable of sending up to 100% of the torque to the rear axle on demand, the DBX707 can launch from 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 310km/h. With braking power delivered by 420mm front and 390mm rear Carbon Ceramic brakes the DBX707 sits on 22” wheels as standard, with a choice of cast or forged 23” alloy wheels available as options.

The interior transformation includes revamped door cards, a redesigned dashboard, and a more intuitive control layout. The center console now resembles that of the DB12 and Vantage, housing a compact gear shifter and physical controls for drive modes and HVAC functions. The addition of a high-resolution 10.2-inch touchscreen with Aston Martin’s own Linux-based Aston UX system brings modern connectivity features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

External changes are subtle, with new paint finishes and redesigned door mirrors to accommodate cameras for a 3-D parking display system. The exterior door handles are now described as “self-presenting,” extending outward when the car is unlocked.

Deliveries of the revised DBX 707 are expected to begin in the second quarter of the year, with pricing details yet to be announced. Aston Martin’s focus on interior refinement underscores its commitment to enhancing the driving experience and addressing customer feedback.

Tesla has issued a recall for all 2024 Cybertruck electric pickups due to a potential safety concern involving the accelerator pedal. The recall was initiated after reports surfaced on social media showing the accelerator pedal pad becoming loose and dislodged, increasing the risk of a collision.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the plastic pad on the accelerator pedal may become dislodged and trapped in the interior trim while the throttle is applied, potentially interfering with braking inputs. Owners of the affected trucks reported that applying the brakes while the accelerator was pressed down cancelled the throttle input, leading to safety concerns.

NHTSA officials confirmed that the application of the brake pedal will cut drive torque, even when both brake and accelerator pedals are pressed simultaneously. This safety feature ensures that the vehicle can be brought to a stop quickly, mitigating the risk of accidents.

The recall affects all Cybertruck models manufactured between November 13 and April 4, totalling 3,878 electric vehicles. Tesla halted production of the Cybertruck after the initial reports to address the issue.

The cause of the problem was identified as soap used during the manufacturing process of the accelerator pedal assembly. This unapproved change in the assembly process resulted in the pad not adhering properly to the pedal, making it prone to dislodgement.

To remedy the issue, Tesla will replace or rework the accelerator pedal assembly at no additional cost to owners. Cybertrucks manufactured after April 17 are equipped with a new part that addresses the issue. Vehicles that have not yet been delivered will receive the fix before reaching customers.

The recall process began on March 31 when Tesla received a report of a stuck accelerator from a customer. Following an assessment of the car’s data logs, Tesla confirmed the issue and subsequently decided to voluntarily recall the affected trucks after receiving a second notice on April 3.
