Ford and its local distribution partner, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), once again hosted a safe driver training programme to corporate partners and members of the public through the long-standing Ford Global Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) programme. The training sessions were held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) where more than 50 licensed drivers – including corporate partners, participated in two half-day workshops.

According to the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), nearly 81 percent of road accidents in Malaysia are caused by driver error, such as unsuitable speed management or impaired driving. Therefore, the Ford Driving Skills for Life programme aims to educate licensed drivers of all ages how to drive safely through practical, hands on experiences, provided free-or-charge, helping them become safer, more aware drivers.

The DSFL workshops addresses various driver risks, such as dealing with unexpected scenarios, speed and space management as well as raises awareness on distracted driving caused by mobile phone use or drowsiness. Family safety tips, such as the importance of ensuring child seats are securely fastened or driving tips for expectant mothers, were also highlighted in both classroom and practical sessions.

“Road safety is a very serious issue and a top priority for us at Ford and SDAC. Apart from ensuring that our vehicles continue to comply with and exceed safety standards, we also consider it our responsibility to implement public awareness initiatives to promote safety. We are proud to be part of this programme and continue to help reinforce best practices for safe driving among Malaysian motorists,” said Syed Ahmad Muzri Syed Faiz, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion.

An emphasis on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or medication was also incorporated in each training session. This included having participants wear specially designed goggles that help simulate the experience of driving while movement, coordination and alertness are impaired. The DSFL safety training workshop has successfully reached over 100 Malaysian licensed drivers this year alone, with scheduled workshops taking place since August. Participants comprised inexperienced young drivers and professional drivers from various private companies.

In a 5.2km 3-stage acceleration test using 101kW 4-cycliner supersports engine, the new Castrol POWER1 10W-40 is 6.6 seconds quicker than a competitor 10W-40 and 2.8 seconds quicker than a previous formulation.

Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Honda Malaysia) has officially launched its latest Honda 3S Centre located in Pasir Gudang, Johor by Yong Ming Motor Sdn. Bhd. (Yong Ming Motor). Based on the record, the after-sales intake rose 51% in the past five years. From January to November of 2018, the southern region alone recorded over 235,000 service intakes, an increase of 13% against the same period last year.

In terms of sales performance by region, the southern region was the second highest contributor with more than 17,000 units sold from January to October 2018 an increase of 2% when compared to the same period in 2017. This achievement is largely thanks to the Johor state which was the highest contributor to the southern region, accounting for over 12,000 units sold. Model-wise, the B-segment leader, City tops the chart as the best-selling model in the southern region. This model contributed 24% to the total southern region sales followed by Civic and CR-V which contributed 11% and 9% respectively to the regional sales units during this period.

AIG Malaysia walked away with two motor insurance awards, “The Fastest Estimate Claim Approval Time for Own Damage Claims 2017” and “The Most Accurate Average Estimate to Approval Amount in 2017” at the Motordata Research Consortium (MRC) Industry Awards event, Motor Insurance Moving Forward, recently. The awards by MRC were based on the fastest turnaround time and most accurate claims estimates for vehicle claims, for which AIG has been recognised an unprecedented five times since 2011.

Incorporated in 1998, MRC is the only concessionaire appointed by the General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) with the endorsement of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to standardise and improve motor vehicle claims in the insurance industry. The organisation uses an industry database of motor claims performance data to benchmark and reduce subjectivity.

Antony Lee, CEO of AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad, said the awards are a recognition of AIG’s strong reputation as a trusted insurance provider that has focused on the need to service our customers reliably and efficiently. “We are honoured to have set a new benchmark for claims processing, in order to ensure best in class service for our customers.
