Sime Darby Motors Delivers 1,000 BYD EVs In 100 Days

Although the full duty exemption for electric vehicles (EVs) began last year, the sales were slow as the incentive was announced by the government only towards the end of 2021. As a lot of production planning and ordering had already been done by many carmakers, the sudden demand from Malaysia was difficult to meet right away in 2022.

However, 2023 should see acceleration in EV sales as the car companies would now have secured larger allocations and stocks are arriving constantly. An indication of this is the announcement by Sime Darby Motors that it has sold and delivered 1,000 units of the BYD ATTO 3 in 100 days.

Hap Seng Star Opens Upgraded Mercedes-Benz Autohaus in Bukit Tinggi, Klang

The Klang Valley has the largest concentration of motor vehicles in the country and obviously, also a large proportion of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. For this reason, the network of outlets – known as Autohaus – is quite extensive in the Klang Valley to serve the many customers.

In Bandar Parklands, near Klang, Hap Seng Star has a Mercedes-Benz Autohaus in the Bukti Tinggi area which was set up in view of the prominent and established township. “We want to be where our customers are, and deliver to them the best customer services and retail experience. In today’s context, we are cognisant that the customer experience is equally as important as the product offering, and thus, together with Mercedes-Benz, we aim to capitalise on the immense auto business opportunities within the Bukit Tinggi region and growing it into a significant auto hub in the years to come,” said Harald Behrend, Group Chief Operating Officer of Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad and Chief Executive of Hap Seng Group’s Automotive Division.

Bookings For Proton X90 Now Accepted, Launch Likely To Be In May

Since April 8, bookings for the upcoming Proton X90 have been accepted at all authorized Proton 3S/4S outlets (the carmaker says only selected dealers will sell the flagship model). The official prices has not been announced, all powered by a 1.5-litre TGDi 4-cylinder engine with a 48V Mild Hybrid Powertrain and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, making it Proton’s first electrified model.

Going by the schedule of City Previews which run until the end of this month, it would seem that the launch of the new model will take place sometime in May. The City Preview sessions are by invitation only and members of the public can contact Proton 3S/4S Outlets, with walk-ins able to enjoy the ‘flea market session’ from 1 pm to 2 pm only.

2024 Lexus LC 500 Ditches Annoying Trackpad

The 2024 Lexus LC 500 will finally get rid of the most annoying feature that Lexus has ever come up with, the dreaded trackpad.

This year will finally mark the end of the trackpad era for the Lexus which was a contentious interface that was hated by many. For the past few years, Lexus has been gradually moving away from its trackpad technology in favour of a more contemporary touchscreen layout and we Malaysians got our first taste of it in the new Lexus NX.

License Plate Sells For RM66 Million In Dubai

If you thought number plates in Malaysia are expensive, think again. The man made of money, who’s identity was not disclosed for obvious reasons but we still think he’s made of money, set a world record purchase of 55 million dirhams (RM66.16 million) for a rare license plate in Dubai.
