Volvo Car Malaysia has officially rebranded the Volvo C40 Recharge as the Volvo EC40, reflecting the company’s move toward a more streamlined model naming strategy. The fully electric crossover SUV, which was first introduced in December 2022, now offers an extended range of 554km and debuts in a new Cloud Blue exterior colour.
The decision to rename the vehicle aligns with Volvo’s commitment to enhancing transparency in its product lineup. According to Volvo Car Malaysia, the EC40 retains all the standout features of its predecessor while improving efficiency and offering customers greater clarity in model identification.
Equipped with an 82kWh battery pack, the EC40 supports 200kW DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 28 minutes. The vehicle features advanced pixel headlights that automatically adjust brightness for optimized visibility, ensuring a safer and more comfortable driving experience. Additionally, customers will continue to benefit from five years of complimentary Digital Services, which include access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store, and remote functions via the Volvo Cars App. A five-year Volvo Service Plan (VSP) is also included, covering scheduled maintenance at authorized service centers.
The EC40 is powered by a twin-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, featuring a second-generation permanent magnet rear electric motor. Delivering 300kW of power, the vehicle offers dynamic performance with an emphasis on rear-wheel drive responsiveness, providing an engaging driving experience.
