Geely’s new electric sedan, the Galaxy E8, has been fully unveiled before pre-sales starting on November 17 at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Built on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, the Galaxy E8 measures 5,010mm in length, 1,920mm in width, and 1,465mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,925mm. For comparison, the Tesla Model S measures 4,978mm in length, 1,964mm in width and 1,445mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960mm. The Galaxy E8 boasts a sleek design with a drag coefficient of just 0.199 while the Model S only has a drag coefficient of 0.208.

The front end features sharp headlights and DRLs, lacking a traditional grille. The sides are clean and aerodynamic, with pop-out door handles. Geely achieved the low drag coefficient without using door-mounted rear-facing cameras, opting for traditional wing mirrors.

The rear end is characterised by an LED light bar and intricate taillights. The interior includes an 8K resolution 45-inch display across the dashboard, a flat-bottom, and flat-top steering wheel, a simple centre console with buttons, a round dial, a wireless charging pad, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Galaxy E8 offers two 400-volt versions: one with a 62kWh LFP battery, a 272hp rear electric motor, and 550km of range; and another with a larger 76kWh battery pack, providing 665km of range. There is also an 800-volt version with a 224hp front motor, a 421hp rear motor, and a 76kWh pack, offering 665km of range.

Pre-sales for the model are scheduled to begin this month, with manufacturing beginning in the first quarter of 2024 and deliveries beginning in the second.

• Safety: Built on Volvo’s safety DNA, the EM90 features advanced driver assistance systems, high-definition cameras, radar, and ultrasonic radars. The vehicle incorporates safe space technology to protect occupants and those around the car.
• Comfort: Top-notch sound isolation, road noise cancellation technology, dual-chamber air suspension, and silent tires contribute to a smooth ride. A Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 21 speakers creates a private concert hall experience.
• Digital Experience: Equipped with Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies, the EM90 offers an outstanding digital experience. Over-the-air software updates, a voice assistant, and multiple screens, including a roof-mounted 15.6-inch screen, enhance connectivity and entertainment.

Apple has commenced extensive ground surveys using vehicles worldwide to collect data aimed at improving Apple Maps and supporting the Look Around feature. These surveys are part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, up-to-date maps to users. The company plans periodic revisits and data re-collection in specific locations to ensure map accuracy and relevance.

Survey Methods and Privacy Protections:

• Vehicle-based Surveys: Apple employs vehicles equipped with advanced mapping technologies to conduct surveys across diverse global locations. These surveys contribute to the enhancement of Apple Maps and the immersive Look Around feature.
• Pedestrian-focused Surveys: In select pedestrian areas, such as specific streets in Kuala Lumpur inaccessible to vehicles, Apple conducts surveys using portable systems. These include backpack systems for direct data collection for Look Around and devices like iPads and iPhones for broader map improvement purposes.

In development for Malaysian automotive enthusiasts, Bermaz Motor is gearing up to introduce the facelifted Mazda CX-5 to the local market. The anticipation surrounds the 2024 model, which boasts a series of updates, both in terms of design and features, promising a refreshed driving experience for Malaysian consumers.

In August 2020, the CX-5 received a running update; however, Malaysia was not included in this. After receiving a running change in October 2019, our CX-5 has been the same up till this point. The complete redesign was first unveiled in September 2021.

At the Polestar Day celebration in Los Angeles, California, Polestar formally presented the production version of their much awaited Polestar 5. The carmaker, supported by Geely, unveiled the Polestar 5 alongside its current models, giving fans a preview of what’s to come from the company.

The Polestar 5, slated for an official launch in 2025, maintains the sleek and distinctive design traits seen in other Polestar models while asserting its own unique personality. The sedan features split headlights reminiscent of the Polestar 4, and although it lacks a traditional grille, the front design incorporates expressive lines and creases, giving the Polestar 5 a distinctive character.
