Mercedes-Benz has strengthened its presence in the Asia-Pacific with the inauguration of its Regional Logistics Center Malaysia (RLCM) in Senai Airport City. Managed by Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd., this new facility will streamline logistics across 20 countries, enhancing after-sales service and logistics efficiency in the region.

Jan Fischer, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific, emphasised the strategic significance of this investment for customer care and Malaysia’s role as a logistics hub, underlining its impact on operational efficiency and Malaysia’s skilled workforce. Johor Chief Minister, YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the centre’s contribution to Johor’s economic growth and its role in developing local talent.

This is your chance to drive the highly anticipated Omoda C9 set to be officially launched soon by Jaecoo Malaysia.

Just weeks after its recent launch, Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has completed 200 nationwide deliveries of the GWM Haval H6 HEV, its first locally assembled Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model. With over 1,500 bookings already secured, the hybrid SUV has seen strong demand, underscoring GWM’s strategic expansion in Malaysia by offering affordable, high-quality vehicles.

Since 1990, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has accumulated RM6.53 billion in unresolved traffic offence summons. Director of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, reported that the department recorded a total of 135,915,377 summonses, amounting to over RM20.38 billion in fines.

Of these, approximately 67 per cent, or 92,317,493 summonses worth RM8.56 billion, have been settled. The remaining 33 per cent, totalling 43,597,884 summonses, account for RM6.53 billion in outstanding fines.

The Malaysian transport and works ministries are nearing completion of a high-speed weigh-in-motion system to tackle accidents caused by overloaded vehicles. Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook announced that this system, set for installation at accident-prone hotspots like the Karak Highway, aims to modernise and integrate enforcement efforts. He noted that overloading, particularly by lorries, is a persistent issue on this highway, despite ongoing enforcement.

Addressing MP Young Syefura Othman’s question on reducing accidents on the Karak Highway, Loke also highlighted plans to promote railway freight transport to alleviate road congestion. Once the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is complete, the ministry intends to implement policies that would shift cargo transport from roads to rail, particularly between the Klang Valley and the East Coast.

Following a tragic incident where an 18-year-old passenger died from electrocution on an express bus, experts are urging the government to enforce mandatory electrical inspections and maintenance for all public transport vehicles. Law Teik Hua from Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Road Safety Research Centre highlighted the risks of faulty wiring, inadequate insulation, overloaded circuits, and exposure to moisture in public transportation, which could lead to electrical hazards.

Law suggested that regular checks on electrical systems and strict adherence to international safety standards could mitigate these risks, emphasising the importance of secure, user-friendly outlet designs to prevent casual misuse.

The High Court has ordered Lee Lap Kee, a sole proprietor of Eco Auto Supply, to pay RM516,777 to Perodua Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd and Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd. This decision follows a case of trademark infringement involving counterfeit Perodua-branded lubricants.

Lee’s business was raided on May 16, 2019, by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, where counterfeit items including Perodua-branded bottles, engine oil, and cap liners were seized.

According to The Edge Malaysia, Lee was initially charged under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, pleaded guilty, and was fined RM52,920 by the Shah Alam Sessions Court. Subsequently, Perodua filed a civil action for trademark infringement and passing off, leading to a consent judgment in September 2022. This judgment legally prohibited Lee from infringing on Perodua’s trademarks and mandated a public apology in three newspapers.

Honda Malaysia today announced a proactive product update involving approximately 36,000 units of the Civic, Civic Type R, and CR-V.

This activity is to update the Electric Power Steering (EPS) gearbox. The EPS gearbox worm wheel may swell and reduce grease film thickness, causing abnormal steering noise or sticky steering. The models involved include Civic Year Model 2022-2024, Civic Type R Year Model 2023-2024, and CR-V Year Model 2024.

Honda Malaysia apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected customers and reassures that other current production and selling models are not affected in this product update. The Company believes this proactive product update is necessary as customer safety is Honda Malaysia’s top priority.
