Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke has refuted recent reports claiming that drivers could face jail time for excessively dark window tints. He clarified that the penalty for violating window tint regulations is limited to a fine ranging from RM100 to RM250, with no cases taken to court.

According to The Star, Loke emphasised that the current regulations mandate fines only, and the imposed amount is not substantial. Offenders receive a notice to appear at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) office. If the tint doesn’t comply with regulations, they are requested to remove it. Loke made these statements during his speech in Parliament regarding the Budget 2024 policy stage debates.

The current window tint regulations require a visible light transmittance of at least 70% for the front windscreen and a minimum of 50% for the front side windows. Rear side windows and the rear windscreen may allow for 0% visible light transmittance.

Bugatti and Adidas have joined forces to create a stunning limited edition football boot, the Adidas X Crazyfast Bugatti. This exclusive collection comprises only 99 pairs of boots, designed for speed and lightness, and adorned with unique Bugatti design elements.

Drawing inspiration from Bugatti’s legacy and their shared commitment to performance, the X Crazyfast Bugatti boots are constructed around Adidas’s X Crazyfast laced boot, meticulously crafted for speed while following Bugatti’s ‘Form Follows Performance’ design philosophy.

The heart of the X Crazyfast boot is its innovative Speedframe sole plate technology by Adidas, ensuring a lightweight yet rigid structure that enhances rapid acceleration. The Aerocage innovation, engineered to provide optimal support and stability by embracing the mid-foot, and the Aeropacity Speedskin, a breathable monomesh layer, contribute to the boot’s speed and stability. Even the carbon fibre inlay in the boot’s tooling mirrors the carbon fibre used in Bugatti cars.

The semi-transparent mono-mesh material on the mid-foot cage of the X Crazyfast boot has been modified to incorporate a distinctive touch of Bugatti Blue, inspired by the colour of early Bugatti Grand Prix cars. It serves as an instant identifier for ardent Bugatti enthusiasts, symbolising a century of motorsport achievements and unparalleled performance.

The boots proudly display two mottos that encapsulate the values of both brands: “Impossible is Nothing,” representing Adidas’s unwavering pursuit of performance, and “Create the Incomparable,” reflecting Bugatti’s dedication to producing hyper sports cars that consistently set new benchmarks. Ettore Bugatti’s enduring emblem graces the rear three-quarter of the boot, paying tribute to the visionary founder whose legacy continues to inspire the world’s greatest hyper sports cars.

The X Crazyfast Bugatti collection boots are presented in a distinctive box, featuring an exterior design inspired by the carbon fibre weaves, the lightweight and exceptionally strong material predominantly used in the construction of Bugatti hyper sports cars.

To ensure a fair chance for Adidas and Bugatti enthusiasts worldwide to acquire one of the 99 pairs, the boots will be auctioned through the Adidas Collect Web 3 platform. The auction is scheduled to run from November 8th to November 11th, with all winners receiving an exclusive digital shoebox. From November 13th onwards, the digital shoebox can be redeemed via Adidas Collect for the corresponding physical pair of boots and their digital twin. While the auction will primarily utilise cryptocurrency, users can access it directly using traditional currency through MoonPay. This unique collaboration between Bugatti and Adidas offers sports and automotive enthusiasts a chance to own a truly limited and exceptional piece of footwear.

Porsche has entered into a groundbreaking agreement with the Swedish energy start-up, H2 Green Steel, to procure CO₂-reduced steel. This strategic partnership aims to enhance the environmental sustainability of Porsche models by incorporating low-emission steel in their production. H2 Green Steel was founded in 2020 with the ambition to accelerate the decarbonisation of the steel industry, using green hydrogen.

H2 Green Steel is set to revolutionise steel production by utilising renewable energy sources in Boden, Sweden, starting at the end of 2025. By 2026, Porsche, along with its primary suppliers of production materials, will receive a supply of low-emission steel from H2 Green Steel. This innovative steel will boast one of the smallest carbon footprints in the market. H2 Green Steel’s production process relies on hydrogen and electricity sourced from renewable energy, making it nearly CO₂-free.

According to H2 Green Steel, this results in a staggering 95% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional steel production with coking coal. Porsche plans to incorporate up to 317,514,66kg of this low-emission steel per year into the series production of their vehicles, significantly reducing their environmental impact. To put it into perspective, in 2022, Porsche used 199,580,643kg of steel in its vehicles.

In recent years, Porsche has continuously reduced the proportion of steel in their vehicles, increasingly opting for lightweight construction materials like aluminium. Nevertheless, steel remains a critical component in sports car manufacturing due to its exceptional mechanical properties. Energy, processes, and materials account for a significant share of CO₂ emissions in the supply chain. That is why Porsche wants to increase the use of recycled materials and green electricity in the production processes of direct suppliers as part of our decarbonisation efforts. Porsche’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions throughout its supply chain highlights its dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry.

In an impressive achievement, the Mercedes-Benz Production Plant in Pekan, as part of the global Mercedes-Benz production network, has reached a significant milestone by producing its 100,000th Mercedes-Benz passenger car. This accomplishment reflects Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to manufacturing excellence and innovation in the luxury automotive industry.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has been steadfast in its commitment to bolstering the local economy, having invested over RM500 million to date in its Pekan plant. This ongoing investment has not only enhanced the quality of local vehicle production but has also contributed to the growth of one of the world’s most coveted automotive brands.

A major achievement earlier this year was the successful commencement of local assembly for the EQS 500 4MATIC. This significant step forward accelerates Mercedes-Benz’s pursuit of electric mobility and sets the stage for the future of automotive manufacturing in Malaysia. In doing so, the company is consistently advancing the Mercedes-Benz strategy of transitioning towards an ‘electric-only’ future.

With a global vision of an all-electric future, Mercedes-Benz Cars is preparing to go all-electric by the end of this decade, wherever market conditions permit.

Sustainability is at the heart of Mercedes-Benz’s business strategy, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Under the “Ambition 2039” initiative, the company has set a challenging target to make its fleet of new vehicles net carbon-neutral over the entire lifecycle of the vehicles by the year 2039.

Mercedes-Benz, in collaboration with its contract manufacturing partner, HICOM Automotive, is actively pursuing a Green Production Target for its production plant. This commitment involves adopting best practices to reduce energy consumption, minimize water usage, and reduce waste while also increasing the share of renewable energy in its production processes. The company aspires to elevate its reliance on renewable energy from the current 30% to an impressive 85% by the end of this decade.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and electrification reaffirms its position as a pioneer in the luxury automotive industry, shaping the future of mobility in Malaysia and beyond.
