After years of dismal sales in a market that is fast shifting to electric vehicles, Mitsubishi Motors has paused its China operations indefinitely and will lay off personnel.

According to a business document distributed on Chinese social media on Wednesday, the manufacturer said that its existing line-up had been negatively impacted by China’s switch to cleaner vehicles and that sales had fallen well short of projections.

The memo’s contents were validated by a representative of Mitsubishi’s regional partner Guangzhou Automobile Group. Both automakers stated that all parties were striving to “optimise the employee structure” and that they would do all possible to protect the affected employees’ legal rights.

Tesla has announced that its first Cybertruck has been produced at its Gigafactory in Texas. Why is this a big deal? Because the Cybertruck was launched to much fanfare with Tesla fans rushing to put down deposits, but this happened nearly two years ago. So the Cybertruck has been delayed by two years.

Tesla now has its assembly line in Austin ready and has manufactured its first Cybertruck there after months of Cybertruck prototypes being sighted on the highways in Texas, California and as far away as New Zealand for winter testing.

Most of us think Mitsubishi and Subaru when it comes to rallying. However, Ford has been in the game for a very long time. Back in 1978, Hannu Mikkola, a seven-time winner of the 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland and who won the RAC Rally in Great Britain four times, would triumph for Ford on the last Lombard RAC Rally of the 1978 season, with a Ford Escort RS1800. And who can forget the legendary Ken Block and his gymkhana stunts with a variety of Fords.

Ford had made a mark in rallying with its Escort and Sierra models, then introduced the Focus RS and Fiesta RS later on. But when was the last you heard a Mustang rallying?
