BMW has announced a partnership with Amazon to utilise their cloud computing technology for the development of their semi-autonomous driver assistance system. This advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) will be integrated into BMW’s upcoming Neue Klasse electric cars, set to debut in 2025. This move underscores a broader trend among traditional automakers aiming to enhance their vehicle technology, especially ADAS, to remain competitive with Tesla.

ADAS encompasses software systems designed to assist drivers with tasks like lane changes and parking, and automakers are progressively introducing more such features as they progress toward autonomous driving. Tesla’s ADAS, known as Autopilot, serves as an example of this trend.

The effective functioning of ADAS relies heavily on data processing, given the essential hardware components like cameras and semiconductors. Artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in these assisted driving systems.

Initially, when Tesla opened its order books in Malaysia, only the Tesla Model Y was available. Interestingly, the Model 3 was not among the options. However, this has recently changed as Tesla Malaysia introduced the new Tesla Model 3 ‘Highland’ facelift to the Malaysian market, making it one of the first countries globally to have access to this model. The delivery of the initial batch is scheduled to occur before the end of 2023.

This development offers a welcome choice for those who initially placed orders for the Model Y but may now prefer the Model 3 Highland for various reasons. This could be due to their preference for a sedan, the updated features of the Model 3 Highland, such as the improved 17-speaker sound system, the longer 629km WLTP range offered by the Model 3 LR, or other personal preferences. Fortunately, Tesla Malaysia is accommodating these changes without penalizing customers.

They revealed their dedication to electric technology by introducing Spectre, an all-electric car set for its first customer deliveries in late 2023. Moreover, Rolls-Royce committed to having their entire lineup go fully electric by the end of 2030, marking a historic shift in the brand’s direction.

In 2003, Rolls-Royce introduced the Phantom, marking the beginning of the Goodwood era and representing Rolls-Royce 1.0 with its unique architecture. Its successor saw the creation of the ‘Architecture of Luxury,’ an all-aluminium spaceframe used for Cullinan and Ghost, signifying Rolls-Royce 2.0.
