The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class with the “L” title, which leaked in a batch of images before its upcoming unveiling, is the latest to join the club of long-wheelbase executive sedans with plenty of rear legroom.

Now we all know China is a big enough market to command its own versions of existing models. Some may be too far fetched and some are improvements. The new Mercedes-Benz we see in these images though is an extended version of the current E-Class, which made its global debut last month. Aside from the badging, the front and rear ends are the same as the ordinary model.

The Nissan X-Trail e-Power SUV, which was introduced at the Singapore Motorshow in 2023, is now available for sale in Singapore. The new X-Trail offers cutting-edge technologies, powerful performance, and a more sumptuous interior setting.

The seven-seater SUV has Nissan’s e-Power electrified drivetrain and e-4orce all-wheel drive system for the first time, and it retails for S$254,800 (RM856,711) inclusive of COE.

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has unveiled the second phase of its multi-pathway approach to help Malaysia achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

As part of Toyota’s Beyond Zero plan, the company has registered sample units of the Toyota bZ4X for review by a technical team as well as stakeholders in the government and commercial sector striving to realise low-carbon personal transport solutions for Malaysia.

Soon, vehicles equipped with Google’s Android Automotive operating system will be able to use in-car infotainment systems to access apps like YouTube, Waze, and Zoom.

Although this is something that most aftermarket players offer, this integration is only available for vehicles running Android Automotive, a version of the Android operating system that has been specifically designed for vehicles. Without the need to connect another device, it gives cars direct access to numerous Google apps and services.

Automakers are suffering greatly as a result of China’s escalating price war on automobiles. For the majority of manufacturers, steep discounts haven’t been able to stop a decline in sales, and profits have suffered.

Revenue and profit margins are being squeezed, according to a Bloomberg review of figures from more than a dozen Chinese automakers during the first quarter. With a few notable exceptions, like BYD Co. and Changan Automobile Group Co., the majority of the big Chinese automakers experienced a loss in profits, which is the worst performance since the start of 2020, when the industry was severely impacted by the pandemic.

Just two kilometres from the famous Jonker Street, Seong Hoe Premium Motors, the longest-running BMW dealer in Malacca, has unveiled a new MINI Charging Facility to meet the growing demand for electrified vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the historic city to support both locals and out-of-state visitors.

“Together with BMW Group Malaysia, we are ever-ready to support the growing market for Electrified Mobility in Malaysia and we are happy to have partnered with leading smart EV charging provider ChargeSini to deliver on this commitment,” said Loy Suan Chiow, General Manager of Seong Hoe Premium Motors.

A recent posting on Facebook shows the DRL (Daytime Running Lights) from a 2022 facelift Myvi had been stolen. The owner of the vehicle stated that he had parked somewhere in the Setapak area.

DRLs are not intended to light up the area in front of your car. Instead, they increase your car’s visibility to oncoming traffic and pedestrians. Therefore it is a valuable part of a car. However, the DRL on the Myvi seems like it is easily removable.

After a 4-day showcase, the much-awaited Malaysia Autoshow 2023 came to an end, leaving auto lovers and industry insiders enthralled over the newest developments and innovations. The exhibition, held from May 4 to May 7, featured an impresive spectrum of brands that produce or distribute automobiles, 2-wheelers, electric vehicles (EVs), accessories, and technology suppliers.

About 190,000 people attended the Malaysia Autoshow this year, filling up all available space at MAEPS. Notably, the Autoshow passed the billion-ringgit mark, with OEMs estimating RM1 billion in potential sales over the course of the 4-day exhibition, as well as a total of around 2,200 car reservations and 6,800 sales leads generated.

The Completely Knocked Down (CKD) project between WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd and Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC), represents a strengthened relationship for both WTCA and GAC.

The CKD project, in which WTCA will invest more than RM60 million, entails both national expansion and the production of the brand-new GAC Motor GS3 model. About 18 months after WTCA and GAC International inked a distributorship contract designating WTCA as the single and exclusive distributor of GAC vehicles in Malaysia, the CKD project was unveiled.
