Range Rover Velar Officially Launched In Malaysia! [+Videos & Mega Photo Gallery]

The new Range Rover Velar which has just been launched nationwide brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the Range Rover family. Designed and engineered based on ‘reductionism’ and elegant simplicity, this new luxurious mid-sized SUV has a unique character incomparable with other SUVs in its class.

With a starting price of RM529,800 the Velar features pioneering consumer technologies such as the flush deployable door handles and the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which is the centrepiece of the Velar’s interior. The Touch Pro Duo features two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens integrated seamlessly behind secret-until-lit surfaces. These slim, intuitive displays work in harmony with the cabin architecture while adding an overall sense of modernity to the vehicle’s design.

The Touch Pro Duo system allows the driver to multitask with greater safety by using two screens simultaneously. When travelling to a new destination, the lower screen can be used to make a call without losing the navigation on the upper screen. Other technology-advanced features include a Head Up Display**, Interactive Driver Display and Navigation Pro.

Winner of the Car Design of the Year at the 2018 World Car Awards, the Velar carries a progressive design featuring a seductive silhouette, flush deployable door handles, integrated rear spoiler as well as distinctive design cues from the front bumper to the rear of the vehicle, foil stamped grille and Matrix LED Headlights. Flush Deployable Door Handles

The flush deployable door handles are unique to the Velar in the Land Rover family. A futuristic feature, the door handles deploy when the vehicle is unlocked and the handles retract once the vehicle is locked. The door handles contribute to the low drag coefficient of only 0.32, making it the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced.

Matrix LED Headlights

The most slender ever to appear on a Land Rover vehicle, these boldly designed Matrix LED headlights produce a quality of light close to daylight, giving excellent illumination and reducing eye fatigue.

3-inch Interactive Driver Display

The new Interactive Driver Display makes driving the Velar more interesting especially with four visual themes and a full-screen 3D navigation display.

Touted as a calming sanctuary, the interior of the Velar is uncluttered, exquisite in detailing and offers exceptional refinement with the use of premium and luxury materials. The instrument panel’s strong, horizontal beam is the defining element of the Velar’s interior architecture. It rakes back dramatically towards the windscreen to create the fastest angle of any Land Rover and underlines the Velar’s dynamic driving characteristics. The slender air vents reinforce the Velar’s reductive, technology-enabled design.

Fortified with the Sports-Command driving position, the Velar’s front seats balance its performance-oriented design and support with opulent comfort. The Velar’s body is built with aluminium-intensive monocoque using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. Aluminium alloys account for more than 81 percent of the body-in-white – a figure no competitor can match. Its light, stiff, aluminium-intensive body, together with double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension provides the perfect basis for agile handling, superior ride comfort and outstanding refinement. It also delivers exceptional levels of crash protection that the Velar has been developed to meet.

It is also one of the safest vehicles due to its comprehensive safety system that includes six airbags and a suite of technology advanced driver assistance systems including Head Up Display**, Navigation Pro System and Cruise Control Speed Limiter.

The Velar delivers exceptional composure and agility on-road, as well as class-leading capability off-road. The most significant of these is an intelligent, efficient, torque on-demand all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which provides the optimum torque distribution to suit various road conditions. Depending on road conditions, it can make the transition from 100 percent rear bias to fully locked in only 165 milliseconds; transient torque delivery to the front axle can take as little as 100 milliseconds. This makes the AWD system incredibly responsive, delivering exceptional performance in all conditions.

Exceptional performance and efficiency comes from its Ingenium powertrain, that is matched to a smooth-shifting ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics. The Velar is fitted with the P250 powertrain. It is the first of the two new petrol engines that develops peak power of 250PS and high maximum torque of 365Nm, which is maintained from just 1,200rpm to 4,500rpm. This means that the Velar can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds and return an impressive 7.6-litres/100km and 173g/km CO₂ on the European combined cycle.

Based on one of the best 400 cc bikes in India produced by Bajaj, the Dominar D400 is powered by a liquid-cooled 373 cc, four-valve engine with digital triple spark ignition (DTS-i) and fuel injection with a maximum power of 35 hp at 8,000 rpm. Additionally, 28 Nm of the total available torque of 35 Nm is available at 3,000 rpm, which makes riding extremely smooth due to the available power.

It is paired with a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and equipped with dual channel ABS to deliver outstanding performance, handling and safety. The suspension comprises telescopic 43mm forks at the front and a multi-step adjustable mono-shock at the rear for a sporty ride. A curb weight of 182 kg and fuel tank capacity of 13 litres makes the Dominar D400 is ideal for both short sprints and long tours.

The MODENAS Dominar D400 is the fourth product in the street bike segment to emerge from the company’s successful collaboration with Bajaj. Here’s a look at it in action!

Perodua To Continue Parts Supply For Previous Myvi Model

In response to the recent news that replacement parts for the ageing Proton Wira will no longer be produced, Perodua has issued a statement giving its commitment to its customers that it will continue to support their motoring needs by opening a new parts production line dedicated to the compact carmaker’s second-generation Myvi; yes the older one above. So Perodua is basically saying, “We got your back folks…” Nice one!

To be operated by Perodua vendor IQM Sdn Bhd at its Proton City, Tanjung Malim facility, the line produces body components including hoods, doors, fenders, quarter panels and roofs. “For our customers’ safety, convenience and peace-of-mind, we are giving our commitment to them that we will continue to produce high-quality and affordable parts for their Perodua vehicles,” Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd President Mr Takahashi Masanori said at the Myvi Service Parts Line official opening last Friday.

“We elected to outsource parts production for the second-generation Myvi because our manufacturing plants are already at peak capacity. Being already a manufacturer of Viva parts since production of the model ended in 2014, IQM was a natural choice for this project,” he said. Besides the second-generation Myvi and the Viva, original parts for the first-generation Myvi, the Kelisa and even the Kancil continue to be produced by vendors in Malaysia to this day.

“There remain a great many users of the second-generation Myvi, of which over 519,000 were produced from May 2011 to October 2017. This is an endorsement by Malaysians and we take this trust seriously,” Mr Takahashi said. For now, the Myvi Service Parts Line at IQM Tanjung Malim produces only body components owing to their high demand. Engine parts for the second-generation Myvi continue to be produced on a one-shot basis at PMSB in Rawang, while other parts are produced by various vendors.

A supplier of metal stamping, body assembly parts and brake tube components to Perodua, IQM began manufacturing service parts for the Perodua Viva in 2014, as production of the model ended. Viva parts are still being produced today at IQM’s Tanjung Malim facility.

“IQM Sdn Bhd has been a vendor of Perodua’s since 2002. Over the years, Perodua and IQM have built a strong relationship based on trust, quality and absolute never-ending loyalty to our customers,” said IQM Executive Director Aidil Azlan Mohd Fitri.

Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show Rallies Auto Industry To “Invigorate Zeal In Automobiles”

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) is all rallying auto marques in Malaysia to invigorate the market for automobiles from four wheelers to two wheelers, automotive accessories products, car care products, lifestyle products associated with auto brands and commercial vehicles, at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS’18) this year.

KLIMS’18 will be held at the largest and newest exhibition arena in Malaysia, Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), from 23 November to 2 December 2018. As the pinnacle of the motoring show calendar of the state, KLIMS is back to ignite the public’s excitement for automobiles with new launches and groundbreaking concepts. Themed “Beyond Mobility”, KLIMS’18 is known as a branding show where auto marques gather to showcase their latest product offerings, automotive dominance and engineering visions.

Industry players are leveraging on KLIMS’18 as a springboard to drive better performances and capture bigger market. MAA has forecasted a growth of 2.3% for Malaysia’s automotive industry, to reach 590,000 units in Total Industry Volume (TIV) for 2018. The projected growth comes as a positive sign with the marginal decline in TIV for the past two years.

BIKES: SYM Malaysia Unveils 3 New Models – VF3i, Jet 14 & CruiSym 250i!

SYM Malaysia recently held the world debut of the new VF3i to the Malaysian market, in addition to the introduction of the SYM Jet 14 and CruiSym 250i! 3 new scoots from Sym to start the year, not bad at all!

The SYM VF3i…

The SYM VF3i comes with a liquid-cooled 185cc single-cylinder four-valve SOHC engine which is the biggest displacement in its category. The SYM VF3i’s EURO 3-Compliant mill on the other hand healthily offers 17.7hp at 8500 rpm, all of which is sent to the rear wheel through a 6-speed transmission.

The chassis comes with a pair of telescopic front forks; telescopic coil spring oil damped single shock absorber at the back & a large 250mm single disc brake setup at the front and 200mm disc at the back. Onboard is also a large 7 liter fuel tank which is suitable for long distance rides. The aerodynamic bodywork engineered by SYM helps the rider slip through winds with ease as well.

There’s more too, the SYM VF3i comes with bright LED DRL’s at the front which allows the bike to be easily seen on a sunny day, a pair of sporty LED signal lamp and a rear LED lamp are included as well. The speedometer on the other hand comes with a digital & analog combination design.

SYM Malaysia also took the opportunity to unveil a brand new scooter at the launch of the VF3i, the SYM JET 14. This scoot comes with cutting edge exterior design and is equipped with all the necessary features for a daily commuter.

Hyundai Motor has won two of this year’s Red Dot Design Awards, one of the most renowned international design and innovation prizes. Aston Martin KL Unleashes New DB11 4.0 V8!

Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur has unveiled the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 version of the acclaimed Aston Martin DB11. Complementing its existing 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, this new variant has provided the opportunity to reveal more of DB11’s sporting character, whilst expanding its global appeal with a combination of exceptional performance and improved efficiency.

This variant speaks everything beautiful, with a new sound; featuring a combination of the definitive GT’s fresh and distinctive design, pioneering aerodynamics, and the potency of a propelling V8 engine, producing 503bhp and 675Nm of torque that yields 0-100km/h in just 4.0 seconds.
