National automaker Perodua has provided a glimpse of how its all-electric path might develop in the future by showcasing that vision through its Electric Motion Online (EMO) concept.

The EMO, an electric hatchback visualisation that made its premiere at the Malaysia Autoshow today, isn’t a full-sized study as you might assume; instead, it’s a 1:6 scale model that offers an exterior design perspective exploring an electrified future.

At the Malaysia Autoshow 2023, BMW Malaysia unveiled the first-ever BMW i4 M50.

The first all-electric BMW M was first previewed in conjunction with BMW’s famous motorsports division’s 50th anniversary last year, is destined to increase the benchmark for purely electric driving performance in Malaysia.

The BMW M 50 Years Emblems will be standard on the first-ever BMW i4 M50. The car’s athletic personality is underlined by standard equipment elements such as the M Aerodynamics package, M rear spoiler in body colour, and black rear diffuser insert.

BMW Malaysia today presented the First-Ever BMW iX1, which combines the athletic flair of a BMW SAV with an all-electric motor intended to explore. The new all-electric edition of the best-selling BMW X1 will be available exclusively in M Sport trim.

The First-Ever BMW iX1 has an expressive design with an upright front that exudes confidence. The road ahead is illuminated by slim wrap-around adaptive LED headlights with high beam help and new daytime running lights. The rear gets 3D taillights in a stylised L-shape with full-LED technology.

BMW Group Malaysia has launched a first-of-its-kind mobile-charging second-life battery programme, partnering with EV Connection to repurpose batteries from existing electrified BMW and MINI vehicles that have reached the end of their lifecycle as mobile EV chargers.

Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability of BMW Group Malaysia said, “The repurposing of these end-of-life batteries from our electrified vehicles essentially places them back into the loop to continue serving the EV ecosystem, after they have completed their lifecycle in our vehicles. The closing of this loop recognises the significant value of the precious metals that are in our batteries, which are finite resources on this planet, and prolongs their use as much as possible before they are eventually retired. Our partnership with EV Connection addresses the
crucial role we play as leaders in the field of electromobility to not only develop the EV landscape, but to do so in a way that is both circular and responsible.”
