A startlingly large number of automakers have returned to the world of prototype racing thanks to the Le Mans Hypercar class. It is unfortunate that Alfa Romeo is not one of them despite its racing heritage. But that doesn’t mean one can’t dream, and so designers like Daniel Kemnitz have shown us what an Alfa Romeo Hypercar could look like.

Kemnitz, a skilled automotive artist from Copenhagen, Denmark, revealed that the idea for his drawing of the Alfa Romeo P7 came to him while he was a student at IED Torino. He admitted, nevertheless, that a number of limitations—including a lack of time and other issues—led to the final project he presented to his academics falling short of his original expectations.

Mini introduced a special “1to6” manual variant last month, which was generally speculated to be its final three-pedal vehicle. Sources inside Mini are now claiming that its manual gearboxes haven’t been completely ruled out for the next-generation Cooper, so those rumours appear to have been premature.

However, if Mini continues to use them, which according to sources is still theoretically viable on the new platform for the car, they won’t be as freely accessible as they were in the past.

More than 650,000 Volvo vehicles will benefit from the most recent over-the-air update, which will enhance Apple CarPlay. The manufacturer will alter the layout of the feature on the main infotainment screen and better integrate Apple’s capabilities across the interior, adding more information to the driver display.

The most major change enables Apple Maps and other navigation applications to be supported natively on the driver display, placing the information at the driver’s fingertips. Using the controls on their vehicle’s steering wheel, drivers can use the screen to display call details and answer, refuse, or cancel calls.

At least in name, Jaguar Land Rover’s era is officially finished. As of June, the premium car manufacturer based in the UK will be known as JLR. The origin of the three letters is undoubtedly obvious to you, but this is not merely an acronym for a famous title. Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles are now brands under a new JLR umbrella, making this a new corporate identity.

Mid-April saw the introduction of this update as an aspect of JLR’s $18.6 billion (RM85.4 billion) reimagine plan. At that cost, it’s clear that JLR is doing more than just designing a new logo. The manufacturer is preparing its production facilities for the transition to electric vehicles by renovating and expanding them. We already know that JLR will support the Range Rover EV in 2025 with its next-generation ELR platform for electric SUVs. Three new EVs, including a four-door GT that is reported to have more power than any Jaguar produced in history, will be built on a new JEA platform on the Jaguar side of the equation that year.

Elon Musk’s Tesla outsold classics like Toyota and Honda, two brands that have long dominated the market for traditional ICE and hybrids. Musk, however, has good reason to be concerned. According to him, the biggest challenge to Tesla right now isn’t a traditional automaker but a cutting-edge Chinese EV company.

In the past, Musk used to think that the same EV brand was a joke. Musk was once questioned about BYD, the Chinese EV car manufacturer, during an interview back in 2011. Musk responded, “Have you seen their cars?” while laughing aloud.
