Proton e.MAS 7 Leads EV Market with 1,853 Deliveries in Q1 2025

PRO-NET, a subsidiary of national carmaker Proton, has announced a significant milestone for its electric SUV, the Proton e.MAS 7, which recorded 1,853 cumulative deliveries in the first quarter of 2025. With 797 units delivered in March alone, the vehicle is estimated to hold a commanding 30% share of the Malaysian EV market, securing its position as the nation’s top-selling electric vehicle.

According to PRO-NET CEO Zhang Qiang, the achievement reflects the growing trust and enthusiasm among Malaysian consumers for Proton’s electrification journey. He stated that customer confidence in both the e.MAS 7 and the broader EV ecosystem Proton is building have been instrumental to this success. He also acknowledged the role of dealers and partners in establishing a comprehensive support infrastructure for EV adoption, adding that the company is committed to continuous improvement in quality and ownership experience.

Accessible, Feature-Rich, and Designed for Malaysians

The Proton e.MAS 7 has gained traction among Malaysian buyers thanks to its competitive pricing and array of advanced features. Priced from RM105,800 for the Prime variant and RM119,800 for the Premium, the e.MAS 7 offers exceptional value for those seeking sustainable mobility without compromising on comfort or safety.

Designed with practicality in mind, the e.MAS 7 boasts 33 storage compartments and a long wheelbase that ensures generous cabin space. A recent PRO-NET customer survey revealed that the most cited reasons for choosing the e.MAS 7 were its value for money, spacious interior and cargo area, and innovative features.

Safety has also been prioritised. The e.MAS 7 is equipped with the AEGIS Short Blade Battery, which has passed the industry’s rigorous ‘Six Extremes’ test. This battery is engineered to endure extreme heat, saltwater exposure, frequent undercarriage impacts, excessive loads, and side collisions, affirming its resilience under harsh conditions.

Real-world performance has also been demonstrated. The Prime variant recently underwent a live WLTP range test, further validating the battery’s accuracy and dependability.

EV Charging Network and App Integration

To support customers transitioning from internal combustion engines to electric mobility, PRO-NET has partnered with several key charge point operators (CPOs). The e.MAS 7 now has access to more than 2,300 public chargers nationwide—representing over 90% of available public charging points. These are operated by Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV, DC Handal, Chargesini, Carput Zap, RExharge, and Charge+.

Additionally, 75 DC fast chargers capable of delivering up to 120kW are available at selected Proton, Proton e.MAS, and smart dealerships, giving owners flexibility and convenience when recharging their vehicles.

To further streamline the user experience, the Proton e.MAS App integrates all participating CPOs into a unified live charging map, enabling users to locate stations, initiate charging sessions, and make payments via a single platform. The app is available for download on both Apple and Android devices, and its usage is steadily growing. Over a span of three months, 1,145 charging sessions were recorded through the app.

Zhang Qiang emphasized that PRO-NET’s vision extends beyond vehicle sales. He noted that the company aims to foster a comprehensive EV ecosystem that includes not only 36 dedicated dealerships with charging infrastructure but also close collaboration with CPOs to improve convenience for EV owners across the country.

International Momentum and ASEAN Tour

Beyond domestic success, the Proton e.MAS 7 is also making inroads internationally. The EV SUV recently debuted in Nepal and is slated to launch soon in Trinidad and Tobago. Meanwhile, the vehicle is currently undertaking an expansive ASEAN road tour, which began and will conclude in Malaysia, underscoring its regional capabilities and Proton’s ambition to expand its EV footprint.

As the Proton e.MAS 7 continues to gain popularity, marking a crucial step in Malaysia’s journey toward electrification, reinforcing the nation’s position as an emerging player in the global EV landscape.
