Nissan Unveils New Models and Technologies for FY25 and FY26

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced an extensive lineup of new and refreshed models set to debut in the fiscal years (FY) 2025 and 2026, alongside the introduction of next-generation technologies. These advancements aim to elevate the company’s performance, strengthen customer loyalty, attract new buyers, enhance profitability, and promote sustainable growth.

Nissan’s upcoming portfolio will cater to the increasing demand for diverse powertrain options. The automaker is set to introduce hybrid technologies, including e-POWER and plug-in hybrids, as well as next-generation electric vehicles (EVs) and advanced internal combustion engines (ICE). The company is confident that these developments will set new benchmarks in the automotive industry.

All-New Nissan LEAF Debuts as a Crossover

A major highlight of the announcement is the third-generation Nissan LEAF, which has been completely reimagined as a sleek and spacious family-friendly crossover. The redesigned model features improved aerodynamics and a more advanced EV architecture, ensuring greater efficiency and driving performance.

For the first time, the Nissan LEAF will be available with 19-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic moonroof. In a move tailored for the North American market, Nissan has integrated a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing access to the Tesla Supercharger network. The model is built on Nissan’s modular CMF-EV platform, which first debuted with the Ariya, and incorporates the company’s new 3-in-1 EV powertrain for improved energy management and extended range. Further details on the new LEAF will be released later this year.

Next-Generation e-POWER Hybrid System

Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER hybrid technology is set to make a significant impact with notable improvements in efficiency, economy, and refinement. Since its introduction in 2016, over 1.6 million units of e-POWER vehicles have been produced. The latest iteration is projected to deliver up to 15% better fuel efficiency at high speeds compared to the second-generation system, along with reduced emissions and improved noise and vibration levels.

At the core of this advancement is a new 1.5-liter engine, specifically designed for e-POWER, as well as a 5-in-1 system that shares core components with Nissan’s latest EV powertrain. Unlike traditional hybrids, e-POWER uses a gasoline engine solely to charge a lithium-ion battery, while the electric motor drives the wheels. This configuration offers an EV-like driving experience with powerful acceleration and quiet operation.

The new e-POWER system will first appear in the Qashqai in Europe in FY25, followed by its introduction in the next-generation Rogue for North America and a large minivan for the Japanese market in FY26.
