Mitsubishi Motors has officially launched the Xforce Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) in Thailand, marking its first-ever hybrid model in the ASEAN region. The move aligns with the automaker’s broader strategy to expand its electrified vehicle lineup and strengthen its market presence in Southeast Asia.
The Xforce HEV, based on the petrol-powered Xforce that debuted in Indonesia in 2023, has been designed with a focus on fuel efficiency and enhanced performance. Mitsubishi Motors stated that the hybrid system integrates a newly developed electric motor with a compact yet powerful battery, delivering a seamless and efficient driving experience. The hybrid technology is expected to offer significant fuel savings while maintaining the durability and reliability that Mitsubishi vehicles are known for.
The company emphasised that the Xforce HEV was developed with the region’s diverse driving conditions in mind. Engineers have fine-tuned the vehicle’s chassis and powertrain to provide optimal performance across various terrains, from city streets to challenging rural roads. The inclusion of Mitsubishi’s proprietary Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system ensures superior handling and stability, particularly in wet and slippery conditions.
Inside, the Xforce HEV boasts a modern and spacious cabin designed for both comfort and functionality. The interior features a driver-centric cockpit, a digital instrument cluster, and a large infotainment display compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. High-quality materials and ergonomic seating enhance the driving experience, while the flexible seating configuration allows for improved cargo space. The rear seats, designed with a 40:20:40 split-folding function, enable users to customize the layout for passengers and storage.
Mitsubishi Motors has also equipped the Xforce HEV with a comprehensive suite of advanced safety and driver assistance features. The vehicle includes the Mitsubishi e-Assist system, which incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Mitigation. A 360-degree camera system enhances visibility, while additional features such as Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert provide an added layer of safety. The model also includes Hill Descent Control and multiple drive modes—Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud—allowing drivers to adapt to varying road conditions with ease.
With its introduction in Thailand, Mitsubishi aims to leverage the Xforce HEV as a cornerstone of its electrification strategy in the region. The company plans to expand availability to other markets, including Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, targeting regions where hybrid electric vehicles are gaining traction as a practical alternative to fully electric models. Given the rising demand for fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles in emerging markets, Mitsubishi anticipates strong interest in the Xforce HEV.
As the automotive industry shifts toward sustainable mobility, Mitsubishi Motors continues to invest in hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. The Xforce HEV is positioned to play a crucial role in the company’s long-term vision of reducing carbon emissions while delivering the rugged reliability that Mitsubishi customers expect.
