Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the launch of its all-new Crown Estate model in Japan, marking the latest addition to the Crown series. The model follows the previously released Crossover, Sport, and Sedan variants, continuing Toyota’s strategy of offering multiple body styles under the Crown nameplate.
The Crown, first introduced in 1955, has played a pivotal role in the evolution of Japan’s automotive industry. As it celebrates its 70th anniversary, Toyota remains committed to innovation, incorporating its “making ever-better cars” philosophy into the new model. This approach is supported by Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) and its in-house company system, both of which contribute to a more flexible vehicle platform and a product development strategy that prioritises customer needs.
A Fusion of SUV and Wagon for a Dynamic and Functional Experience
The Crown Estate combines the characteristics of an SUV and a wagon, offering a spacious and refined design aimed at individuals with active lifestyles. Built on the GA-K platform, the vehicle features an elegant cabin with bold shoulder lines extending from front to rear, emphasizing a seamless and dynamic profile. Large 21-inch aluminum wheels enhance the powerful stance, while a bumper-integrated front grille blends stylishly with the body color. The grille’s mesh pattern subtly transitions from top to bottom, adding to the model’s refined aesthetic.
Inside, the Estate incorporates the Crown series’ signature “island architecture,” which arranges displays in a horizontal layout to minimize distractions for the driver. High-quality interior materials include vintage-style cloud patterns applied to Saddle Tan and Grayish Blue trim areas, creating an atmosphere of sophistication.
Toyota offers the Estate in five monotone and five bi-tone exterior color options, catering to diverse preferences. The plug-in hybrid variant features an exclusive Precious Metal x Massive Gray bi-tone option, adding an element of exclusivity. Interior color themes include Black, Saddle Tan, and the PHEV-exclusive Grayish Blue, providing a refined and contemporary aesthetic.
Versatile Luggage Space for an Active Lifestyle
Designed for practicality, the Crown Estate provides 570 liters of luggage space with the rear seats in use, expanding to 1,470 liters when folded. Toyota has introduced an all-new luggage space extension board mechanism that enables a completely flat surface extending up to two meters—an innovation appearing for the first time in a Toyota vehicle. This enhancement offers greater usability for outdoor activities, road trips, and leisure experiences.
Additional features include a pull-out deck chair and table, seamlessly integrated into the luggage area for added convenience during camping or outdoor adventures. These elements, designed in chic tones to complement the cabin, bear the Crown emblem, reinforcing the model’s premium identity.
A Comfortable and Stress-Free Driving Experience
Toyota has engineered the Crown Estate to deliver a refined and comfortable ride, particularly for long-distance travel. The suspension system has been tuned to balance precise steering with a smooth driving experience, reducing fatigue for both drivers and passengers.
The vehicle offers three distinct drive modes—Normal, Sport, and Rear Comfort Mode. The Rear Comfort Mode incorporates Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) for enhanced stability, while Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) optimizes damping force to ensure minimal body roll and a high-quality ride.
Electrified Powertrain Options for Performance and Efficiency
The Crown Estate is available with hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain options. The 2.5-liter hybrid system has been refined for greater efficiency, featuring a front motor with approximately 50% more output than those in the Crossover and Sport models. This enhancement ensures smooth and responsive acceleration, even when carrying heavy loads.
Equipped with a high-output density drive motor, the Estate combines dynamic performance with quiet operation. The lithium-ion battery, positioned beneath the floor to maximise interior space, enables a battery-electric driving range of up to 89 kilometers on the PHEV model, allowing for daily commutes with minimal fuel consumption.
With its latest Crown Estate model, Toyota continues to push the boundaries of versatility and innovation, reinforcing its commitment to creating vehicles that adapt to modern lifestyles while maintaining the Crown’s legacy of refinement and performance.
