Volvo has officially revealed the EX30 Cross Country, an all-electric SUV designed for adventure seekers looking to explore beyond city limits. The unveiling took place at a secluded winter cabin in northern Sweden, in collaboration with outdoor equipment brand Fjällräven.
Blending Urban Utility with Off-Road Capability
The EX30 Cross Country builds upon the existing EX30 model, incorporating rugged enhancements to navigate challenging terrains. It offers a fully electric powertrain with a range of up to 427 km and a rapid charging capability that allows for a 10-80% charge in just 26 minutes. The vehicle comes equipped with all-wheel drive and increased ground clearance, ensuring smooth travel across diverse landscapes.
Additional features include larger wheels with an optional 18-inch all-terrain tyre upgrade, providing greater stability on rough surfaces. Volvo aims to cater to drivers who seek both urban convenience and off-road versatility, making the EX30 Cross Country a compelling choice for modern explorers.
Distinctive Design Inspired by Nature
The EX30 Cross Country features a unique aesthetic that reflects its adventurous spirit. Its front shield and boot lid are finished in a dark colour, while the front fascia is adorned with a topographical design inspired by Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range. The SUV also boasts reinforced front and rear skid plates, along with wheel arch extensions that emphasize its rugged appeal.
Functional Interior with Smart Storage Solutions
Volvo has designed the EX30 Cross Country’s cabin with practicality in mind. The removal of traditional door speakers has allowed for large storage compartments in the doors, while a central storage tunnel between the driver and passenger serves multiple functions, including cupholders and additional space. A removable and washable storage box is positioned beneath the rear central tunnel, doubling as a waste bin.
At the rear, a ‘Will it fit?’ guide on the boot lid assists owners in maximizing cargo space for their outdoor gear. Meanwhile, Google built-in technology, including Google Maps, ensures seamless navigation to even the most remote locations. The Volvo EX30 app also allows users to precondition the vehicle for optimal comfort before embarking on their journeys.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
As expected from a Volvo, the EX30 Cross Country prioritizes safety. The vehicle is equipped with braking and steering support systems that help prevent collisions with pedestrians, cyclists, and oncoming traffic. A driver monitoring sensor detects signs of fatigue or distraction, providing alerts to enhance road safety.
Exclusive Cross-Country Experience Package
To complement the launch, Volvo is introducing the Cross Country Experience package. This offering includes accessories such as a load carrier, a roof basket, 18-inch all-terrain tyres, and mud flaps, providing customers with everything they need for an outdoor lifestyle.
Volvo’s EX30 Cross Country marks a significant step in expanding the brand’s rugged vehicle lineup while maintaining its commitment to sustainability and innovation. With its blend of electric efficiency, off-road capability, and advanced technology, the EX30 Cross Country is set to redefine the adventure-ready SUV segment.
