Volvo Launches 2025 EX90: A Family-Oriented Electric SUV to Rival the Competition

After a relatively quiet period in its electric vehicle lineup, Volvo is preparing to make a significant impact in 2025 with the launch of a new family-friendly EV. The Volvo EX90 is a three-row electric SUV designed to elevate the brand’s presence in a competitive and growing market.

Powerful Performance and Impressive Range

The 2025 Volvo EX90 offers two distinct powertrain options, both paired with all-wheel drive and an impressive 111 kWh battery capable of achieving up to 498km on a single charge. When connected to a DC fast charger, the vehicle can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes, making it a practical option for long-distance travel.

The base trim features dual electric motors that deliver 402hp and 770Nm of torque, enabling the EX90 to reach 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds. For those seeking enhanced performance, an upgrade to the twin motor performance powertrain boosts output to 510hp and 909Nm of torque, slashing the 0-100km/h time to 4.7 seconds. This performance enhancement comes at an additional cost of $5,000 (RM22,140).

The Volvo EX90 is available in two trims: the Plus, starting at $79,995 (RM354,212), and the Ultra model, priced from $84,345 (RM373,473).

Family-Friendly Design with Spacious Interiors

Designed with families in mind, the Volvo EX90 boasts a roomy interior with seating for up to seven passengers. The SUV also provides ample cargo space, offering up to 1,914 litres when the rear seats are folded flat. This makes it one of the most spacious electric SUVs available, providing the flexibility to carry both passengers and cargo with ease.

For those who prefer a more open seating arrangement, Volvo offers an option to remove the centre seat in the second row, converting the vehicle into a six-passenger configuration for an extra $500 (RM2,217). While the third-row seats can comfortably accommodate two passengers, it’s recommended that those sitting in the back be under 5’7” tall for optimal comfort.

Connectivity and Convenience at Your Fingertips

To enhance the driving experience, the 2025 Volvo EX90 is equipped with a range of connectivity features. Standard offerings include a wireless smartphone charging pad, six USB-C ports (two per row), and wireless Apple CarPlay. For added convenience, a 12V power outlet is included in the cargo area, ensuring that all your devices stay powered while on the go.

A Rare Find in a Scarce Segment

As one of the few electric SUVs offering a standard third-row option, the Volvo EX90 is set to carve out its niche in a market where such configurations are still relatively rare. While some electric vehicles offer a third-row upgrade as an option, the EX90 provides it as a standard feature, making it a standout choice for families seeking both space and sustainability in their next vehicle.

With the 2025 EX90, Volvo is poised to challenge the competition and offer an exceptional family-oriented electric SUV that combines performance, space, and modern connectivity.
