Next-Gen Fiat 500 To Arrive in 2032 Despite Sales Struggles

Stellantis is going through a tough time after CEO Carlos Tavares suddenly stepped down. Despite this, the company has confirmed that a new Fiat 500 will arrive in 2032. However, the current electric Fiat 500e sales have been slow, leading to production pauses.

Keeping the Fiat 500 in Turin

The Fiat 500, a popular city car in Europe, will continue to be made at the Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy, beyond 2030. Stellantis’ European Chief, Jean-Philippe Imparato, says this decision ensures the plant stays busy and important to the company. In November 2025, a new hybrid version of the Fiat 500, called the Fiat 500 Ibrida, will be introduced to give buyers more choices.

Boosting the Fiat 500 Lineup

To make the Fiat 500 more appealing, Stellantis is working on electric and hybrid versions. The goal is to produce 100,000 cars a year. The electric 500e hasn’t sold as well as expected, partly because people are unsure about switching to electric cars. Many buyers are hesitating due to the economy and uncertainty about whether to choose electric, hybrid, or petrol-powered cars.

Stellantis hopes that adding a hybrid option will make the Fiat 500 more attractive, especially for city drivers in Europe.

Competing Globally

Stellantis faces strong competition, especially from Chinese carmakers, who are quickly adopting electric vehicles. To keep up, Stellantis plans to launch 14 new hybrid and electric models soon. They’re also working to lower costs for batteries, software, and technology while teaming up with suppliers.

Imparato reassured that no factories in Italy would close and highlighted the Mirafiori plant’s key role in producing parts for hybrid cars that are shipped worldwide.

What’s Next

Stellantis will soon share its updated plans, including partnerships to speed up the move to electric vehicles. By offering more choices, staying committed to Italian manufacturing, and preparing for a changing market, the company aims to secure a strong future for the Fiat 500.
