On December 15, 2024, the ninth edition of Das Treffen—the ultimate gathering for Porsche enthusiasts—brought the karting circuit at Impact Speed Park in Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, to life. What began as an intimate meet-up among friends with a shared love for Porsche, envisioned by founder Sihabutr Xoomsai (fondly called Tenn), has grown into a full-fledged festival celebrating the legacy, innovation, and community spirit of the Porsche brand.
Record-Breaking Turnout and a Theme of Exclusivity
Das Treffen 9 broke records this year, attracting 3,050 attendees and showcasing more than 627 Porsche sports cars. Enthusiasts travelled from as far as Singapore and Vietnam to be part of this vibrant celebration. The event’s theme, “Limited Edition,” added an extra touch of exclusivity.
A highlight was the showcase of rare Porsche models, affectionately referred to as “unicorns,” which included iconic creations like the Carrera GT (limited to 1,270 units) and the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 from the 997 generation (only 600 units produced). These vintage and modern masterpieces stood proudly in the heart of the circuit, drawing admiration from fans and collectors alike.
Building a Thriving Porsche Community
Founder Sihabutr Xoomsai expressed his gratitude, saying, “The record turnout at Das Treffen 9 proves once again that Southeast Asia has one of the most vibrant and passionate Porsche communities in the world.”
This sentiment was echoed by Ms. Pawarapa Dupassakoon, Director of Marketing & PR at Porsche Thailand, who reflected on a landmark year for the brand. “In 2024, we introduced the regionally-assembled Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé, announced four new Porsche Centres, and celebrated the opening of Porsche Centre Bangna in Bangkok. Das Treffen is our way of giving back to the incredible community that fuels our success.”
Yannick Ott, Director of Marketing at Porsche Asia Pacific, emphasized the event’s unique atmosphere, noting how it unites people from diverse backgrounds across the region in their shared passion for Porsche.
The Porsche Village: A Hub of Excitement
The Porsche Village, a stunning two-story open-air pavilion, added a luxurious touch to the gathering. Guests enjoyed panoramic views of the car displays while engaging with interactive features like racing simulators and a Porsche Lifestyle boutique. The pavilion’s #Raceborn zone featured a Manthey-kitted 911 GT3, showcasing Porsche’s dedication to racing heritage.
Rare models, such as the 918 Spyder (one of only 918 units worldwide) and the latest limited-edition 911 S/T, further elevated the event’s prestige.
A One-Off Showstopper: Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade
Taking center stage was the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade, a one-of-a-kind creation by Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur Sonderwunsch program. Fresh from its debut at Porsche Centre Bangna, this masterpiece paid homage to Southeast Asia with its groundbreaking blend of Chromaflair effect paints, Urban Bamboo, and Shifting Carbon, achieving a captivating gradient finish.
The bespoke design, featuring tinted carbon fibre accents and a mythical LongMa emblem, underscored Porsche’s dedication to artistry and innovation. With over 80 hours of hand-painting involved, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade symbolized Porsche’s forward-looking spirit and respect for the region’s heritage.
A Milestone Year for Porsche in Thailand
Das Treffen 9 marked the culmination of an extraordinary year for Porsche in Thailand, highlighted by major milestones like the launch of the first regionally-assembled Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé, the announcement of the Porsche Design Tower Bangkok, and the opening of Curvistan Bangkok, a space celebrating Porsche’s passion and design ethos.
As the festival drew to a close, it was clear that Das Treffen 9 was more than a gathering; it was a testament to the enduring spirit of Porsche and its vibrant community in Southeast Asia.
