WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, has unveiled the GAC Aion ES, which is now Malaysia’s most affordable fully electric sedan. Priced at just RM106,800, the Aion ES offers a highly competitive alternative to pricier models like the GWM Ora 07 and BYD Seal, positioning itself as an ideal entry-level option for Malaysians venturing into the electric vehicle (EV) market.
The GAC Aion ES is powered by a single front-wheel-drive motor delivering 134hp and 225Nm of torque, paired with a 55.2 kWh LFP Magazine battery. This configuration provides an impressive driving range of 442 km under the NEDC standard and 364 km under the WLTP testing standard. Charging is user-friendly, with an AC single-phase on-board charger rated at 6.6 kW requiring approximately 11 hours for a full charge.
For faster recharging, the sedan supports DC fast charging up to 60 kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in just 30 minutes. Additionally, the Aion ES includes a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that allows the battery to power external appliances with an output of up to 3.3 kW, offering greater utility and versatility.
Inside the cabin, the Aion ES emphasizes modern comfort and practicality. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system provides Apple CarPlay integration, complemented by a 3.5-inch LCD instrument cluster for essential driving information. Dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a PM2.5 air filter ensure a clean and pleasant cabin environment, while features like keyless start, a wide-angle rearview camera, and cruise control add to its convenience. Safety is also a key focus, with the sedan equipped with front airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, hill hold control, and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) to provide comprehensive protection for occupants.
The Aion ES’s exterior design blends sophistication and practicality, with dimensions measuring 4,810 mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and 1,545 mm in height. A wheelbase of 2,750mm ensures generous interior space, while its 450-litre boot capacity caters to everyday storage needs. The sedan is fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels paired with 215/55 R17 tyres, and it includes a full-size spare tyre for added peace of mind.
To make the offer even more enticing, WTCA is providing buyers with a complimentary 7 kW AC home wallbox charger valued at RM3,500. The Aion ES also comes with an impressive warranty package that includes coverage for the base vehicle for eight years or 160,000 km and EV components, such as the battery, motor, and electric controls, for eight years or 200,000 km.
This is the second GAC EV introduced to Malaysia by WTCA, following the launch of the Aion Y Plus. The company has ambitious plans to expand its lineup further, introducing a mix of internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and electric models over the next five years. These efforts aim to meet Malaysia’s growing demand for sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.
With its competitive price point, practical range, and essential features, the GAC Aion ES is expected to appeal to cost-conscious buyers and solidify GAC’s foothold in Malaysia’s expanding EV market.
