Porsche Marks the End of 911 Dakar Production with Bespoke Sonderwunsch Edition

Porsche has celebrated the conclusion of its 911 Dakar production run by delivering a bespoke Sonderwunsch edition to an Italian sports car collector. The ceremony took place at the Porsche Museum, where the final unit of the 2,500 limited-production series was handed over, marking the end of the line for this distinctive off-road-capable sports car.

A Unique Sports Car for On- and Off-Road Performance

Introduced in November 2022, the 911 Dakar was designed to perform equally well on rugged terrains and country roads. The model stands approximately 50mm taller than the 911 Carrera with sports suspension, offering increased ground clearance. Its off-road credentials are further bolstered by red, forged aluminium recovery eyelets at the front and rear, along with widened wheel arches and sills.

Under the hood, the 911 Dakar features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that delivers 480PS and a peak torque of 570Nm. This robust powertrain ensures dynamic performance, complemented by the unmistakable sound of a boxer engine.

A Sonderwunsch Masterpiece

The final 911 Dakar has been extensively customised under Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program. This unique model sports a hand-applied three-tone paint scheme inspired by the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally-winning 911.

The livery combines Signal Yellow and Gentian Blue Metallic, with a bespoke Lampedusa Blue accent line separating the two primary colours. Named after the Italian Mediterranean island, Lampedusa Blue was developed specifically for this car in collaboration with its new owner.

Additional exterior details include:

  • Alloy wheels with Signal Yellow spokes and Lampedusa Blue rim edges.
  • LED Matrix headlights accented with Lampedusa Blue rings.
  • Black stainless steel protective elements on the front, rear, and sills.
Bespoke Interior Finishes

Inside, the Sonderwunsch edition maintains its exclusivity with intricate custom touches. The interior is finished in black, with contrasting yellow stitching and trim accents on the dashboard, centre console, and door panels.

The Sports Seats Plus feature “911 Dakar” embroidery in Speed Yellow, while the gear selector is adorned with a Speed Yellow leather insert. Upon opening the doors, LED projectors display the Sonderwunsch logo on the ground, adding a personalised flourish to the experience.

Museum Display Before Delivery

Before heading to its new home, the final 911 Dakar will remain on display in the foyer of the Porsche Museum. This unique vehicle joins other rare and limited-edition models, allowing visitors a chance to admire the craftsmanship and legacy of this special car.

The Sonderwunsch 911 Dakar represents the culmination of Porsche’s innovation, combining off-road capability with unmistakable sports car performance.
