Sime Darby Auto Imports Appointed as Official Importer and BYD Malaysia as Distributor for Denza

BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. has taken a significant step forward in expanding its footprint in Malaysia by officially signing an Importation & Distribution Agreement for Denza, its premium electric vehicle (EV) sub-brand. The ceremony, held at Sunway Resort Hotel, saw Sime Darby Auto Imports Sdn. Bhd. appointed as the official importer, while BYD Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. was named the official distributor for Denza in Malaysia.

This partnership strengthens the relationship between BYD and Sime Darby, marking the introduction of Denza’s luxury EV lineup to the Malaysian market. The move aims to enhance Malaysia’s EV sector with innovative, premium technology and a refined driving experience tailored to the growing demand for sustainable mobility.

Mr. Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD’s Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are proud to bring our advanced EV technology to Malaysia, offering customers a premium experience with Denza. This is a major milestone for BYD as we continue to expand in Southeast Asia.”

Mr. Dennis Ho, Managing Director of Assembly and Strategic Businesses at Sime Darby Motors, noted the significance of the partnership, emphasising Sime Darby’s dedication to accelerating EV growth in Malaysia. He highlighted that the introduction of Denza will diversify their EV portfolio and further contribute to the local market’s expansion.

Mr. Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., also reinforced BYD’s commitment to Malaysia’s EV landscape. He remarked, “The launch of Denza provides a luxurious, sustainable option for Malaysian drivers, further supporting the country’s transition to greener mobility.”

This collaboration signals a strong effort by both companies to meet the growing demand for EVs in Malaysia, offering a premium, eco-friendly alternative for consumers looking to embrace the future of transportation.
