Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi, a veteran politician and Umno Supreme Council member, expressed his frustration over the persistent traffic congestion plaguing Malaysian highways, particularly along the Kuala Lumpur to Johor Baru route. According to Puad, these traffic jams occur not only during holiday seasons but throughout the day, due to ongoing road repairs and outdated lane closure systems.
Sharing his personal experience, Puad mentioned encountering three traffic jams late at night, proving that congestion is not limited to peak hours. He also highlighted that routine highway maintenance, such as grass cutting and debris removal, contributes to traffic slowdowns, sometimes stretching for kilometres.
As the Johor state assembly speaker, Puad voiced concern over the inefficiency of the current road management system, stressing that paying toll users deserve a smoother and more efficient travel experience.
