Two Additional VEP RFID Tag Registration Locations Open

Starting this Sunday, September 22, two additional locations in Johor will begin operating to facilitate the registration and installation of Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for Singaporean vehicle owners. According to Bernama, these new locations will be at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) office in Taman Daya and the Southern Region Road Transport Academy in Larkin, with capacities to accommodate 800 and 400 vehicles per day, respectively.

Currently, the only location for VEP RFID tag installation is the VEP Collection Center (VCC) in Danga Bay, which has a limited capacity of 300 vehicles per day. With the addition of the two new locations, the overall daily installation capacity will increase to 1,500 vehicles, according to JPJ Director General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli.

“This effort is to make the VEP RFID tag installation process smoother for Singaporean vehicle owners who have already completed online registration, with assistance provided by JPJ officers at the locations,” said Datuk Aedy Fadly in a statement.

The Ministry of Transport through JPJ will begin enforcing the VEP at the Malaysia-Singapore land border starting October 1. Singaporean vehicle owners are urged to register, install, and activate the VEP RFID tag as soon as possible to avoid any issues when entering or exiting Malaysia.

For registration and further details on the VEP RFID tags, vehicle owners can visit the official website at https://vep.jpj.gov.my.

Failure to comply with the VEP regulations may result in penalties, as driving a foreign vehicle without a permit is an offense under Subsection 66H (7) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).
