BYD Unveils Updated Han Sedan in China – PHEV and EV Powertrain Options

BYD has revealed an updated version of its popular Han sedan in China, focusing on improved technology and a slight reduction in its starting price. Originally launched in 2020 and receiving a facelift in 2022, this marks the second significant update for the electrified model.

The most notable exterior change is that the BYD Han DM-i (plug-in hybrid) now shares the same design as its all-electric counterpart, streamlining the look across the lineup. New additions include a Fashion Grey colour option and a Black Sports package. Additionally, a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is present, hinting at enhanced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Inside, the updated Han boasts a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with improved resolution. The cabin offers a premium feel with Nappa leather upholstery, real aluminium, and wood accents. Noteworthy features include massaging, heated, and ventilated front seats, as well as a 775-watt, 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

In terms of safety, the sedan comes equipped with the BYD DiPilot 300 system, which utilizes 31 sensors, including LiDAR, and is powered by the Nvidia Orin-X AI chip. Enhancements also extend to the chassis, with a new five-link rear suspension and variable damping technology for a smoother ride.

The Han retains its 4,975mm length and offers both PHEV and EV powertrain options. The PHEV features BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i powertrain, combining a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a total output of 416hp, allowing the car to reach 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds. The 125km EV-only range is complemented by a total driving range of 1,350km.

The fully electric Han has been upgraded to an 800V BYD Blade battery, allowing for faster DC charging, with BYD claiming a 160km range in just 10 minutes of charging. Depending on the model, the CTLC range of the Han EV varies from 506km to 701km.

In terms of performance, the Han EV offers varying outputs ranging from 201hp to 241hp, all with front-wheel drive. Interestingly, regardless of the power output, all versions reportedly reach 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The 2025 BYD Han is now available for order in China. Pricing for the PHEV ranges from ¥165,800 to ¥225,800 (RM101,006 – RM137,559) , while the EV is priced between ¥179,800 and ¥235,800 (RM109,528 – RM143,641).
