Bermaz Xpeng Sdn Bhd, the exclusive distributor of XPENG vehicles in Malaysia, has officially launched the XPENG G6 Ultra Smart Coupe SUV. Priced from RM165,000, the G6 is now open for bookings, marking a significant milestone for XPENG as it enters the Malaysian electric vehicle (EV) market.
Founded in 2014, XPENG Inc. is a leading Chinese automaker specialising in smart electric vehicles. The company is known for its cutting-edge designs and technologies, aimed at revolutionising mobility. Bermaz Xpeng’s introduction of the G6 in Malaysia aligns with their sustainability objectives, further reinforcing their commitment to minimising environmental impact by embracing green vehicles and technologies.
The XPENG G6, first revealed at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition in April 2023, is built on the state-of-the-art SEPA 2.0 platform. This next-generation architecture is designed to deliver advanced technology, comfort, and space, setting a new standard in the mid-size crossover SUV segment.
The SEPA 2.0 platform empowers XPENG to optimize research and development while enhancing production efficiency. It also ensures that the G6 meets diverse consumer needs with an array of features aimed at comfort, infotainment, and performance.
The XPENG G6 offers two powertrain options. The 580 Pro variant features a 66 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, producing 255hp and a maximum torque of 440Nm, with a top speed of 200km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.6 seconds. The 755 Pro variant boasts an 87.5 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery, generating 282hp and the same 440Nm of torque, achieving 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds with a maximum range of up to 570km.
The G6 is equipped with an 800-volt silicon carbide (SiC) platform that supports superfast DC charging. The 580 Pro variant can charge from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes with a maximum DC charging capacity of 215 kW, while the 755 Pro variant offers 280 kW charging.
Safety remains a key focus, with the G6 featuring XPILOT 2.5, a sophisticated driver assistance system equipped with high-definition millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic radar, and a 360° HD camera. Standard safety features include seven airbags and electronic child locks, while advanced features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Centering Control (LCC), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) enhance driver confidence.
The XPENG G6’s exterior design exudes modernity, with fluid tech-inspired aesthetics. The SUV’s aerodynamic shape, low center of gravity, and short overhangs contribute to enhanced handling and stability. The suspended roof design allows for a roomy, comfortable interior that features ergonomic seats made from eco-friendly materials.
The interior is characterised by XPENG’s “Circle of Life” design philosophy, offering spacious cabin accommodations and advanced technology. Both front and rear passengers benefit from features like seat heating, with the front seats adding ventilation and memory functions.
XPENG’s upgraded in-car operating system, Xmart OS 5.0, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P chipset. The system includes a 14.96-inch central display and a 10.2-inch digital dashboard, complemented by an interactive voice assistant and over-the-air software updates for a future-proof driving experience.
The G6 is equipped with an 18-speaker XOpera surround audio system, delivering a 960W total power output and immersive sound quality. The vehicle’s infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and includes a library of entertainment apps.
For added convenience, the XPENG mobile app enables drivers to control various vehicle functions remotely, including enhanced auto parking assist, air conditioning, and security features.
The G6 will be available in five colours: Midnight Black, Silver Frost, Arctic White, Graphite Gray, and Fiery Orange. Interior options include leatherette seats in black or grey, offering a sophisticated and luxurious cabin experience.
The XPENG G6 starts at RM165,000 for the 580 Pro variant and RM185,000 for the 755 Pro variant. Both models come with a 5-year or 120,000km manufacturer warranty, alongside an 8-year or 160,000km high-voltage battery pack warranty.
