Volkswagen Sets Malaysia Book of Records with Largest Gathering of Golf Models at 2024 Golf Fan Fest

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has secured a place in the Malaysia Book of Records with a historic gathering of 370 Golf models during the 2024 Golf Fan Fest, held at the Sepang International Circuit. This national record-setting event coincided with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Volkswagen Golf.

Volkswagen owners and enthusiasts from across the country came together to celebrate this momentous occasion, with the event drawing in nearly 2,000 participants. The Golf, which has sold more than 37 million units in over 70 countries, has remained one of Volkswagen’s most beloved models since its inception. Now in its eighth generation, the hot hatchback continues to capture hearts with its cutting-edge design, performance, and timeless style.

As part of the celebration, VPCM unveiled the exclusive Golf GTI Edition 50, a limited edition of just 50 units specifically for the Malaysian market. Fully assembled in Pekan, Malaysia, this special edition model features unique enhancements, including an Oettinger body kit, new wheels, and a commemorative “50” emblem in the steering wheel. The Golf GTI Edition 50 is priced from RM267,990 and comes with the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), which includes 5 years of maintenance, 5 years of unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years of roadside assistance.

The Golf GTI Edition 50 made its public debut at the event, sparking excitement among fans, collectors, and driving enthusiasts. The day’s activities included a gymkhana driving challenge, Golf R drift taxi rides, and track sessions, along with displays of the Golf’s evolution over five decades. Test drives, workshops, model car kit races, and a special award for the country’s biggest Golf fan added to the day’s festive atmosphere.

Earlier this year, VPCM achieved another significant milestone by launching the Touareg R-Line, fully assembled at the Pekan plant. Malaysia is the only country outside Europe producing this flagship five-seater SUV for the global market.
