13th Annual Art of Speed Brings Together Global Customisation Legends and New Talents

The 13th Annual Art Of Speed (AOS 2024) took place at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS) from July 27-28, 2024. Known for its tradition of attracting international guests and showcasing customised vehicles from around the globe, this year’s event continued to highlight the best in automotive culture and customisation.

Among the distinguished guests were Shige Suganuma, Shinotsuka “NATQQ” Michihisa, and Hey Murakamii from MOONEYES, Japan; professional Japanese drifter Daigo Saito from Fat Five Racing; and Katie’s Customs from Japan, featuring a custom Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle. Other notable attendees included STOOP Motorcycles with a custom Harley-Davidson Panhead, EVILACT with a custom 1947 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead EL, and Nigel Petrie from Engineered To Slide, Australia. From Thailand, Spinny and Little Boy Cycles were recognised, while global figures such as Dino Dalle Carbonare and Alexander Iain from Speedhunters.com were also present.

The event also saw participation from Singapore’s Choppajoop and Indonesia’s Sixty Sick Paintlab, a collective group of 15 pinstripe artists.

The Art of Speed Invitational Bike Build Off 2024 featured ten talented builders vying for top honours. Irwann Cheng from FNG Works was awarded both the jury pick and public choice for his RXZ Twin Boss V2, earning a RM5,000 cash prize and the opportunity to showcase his custom bike at the 32nd Annual MOONEYES Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2024 in Japan.

The event also hosted the 2nd Official Hot Wheels Collectors Convention Malaysia at Hall C, marking the launch of a convention-exclusive die-cast model from Mattel, unveiled by Hot Wheels Design Manager Dwayne Vance. AOS 2024 further collaborated with Selangor FC (SFC) on their “Stop The Violence” campaign, with Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari attending the event to officiate the collaboration.

Additional activities included the Roda Rumble 2024, a two-wheeled gathering supported by Retro Mania, and La Cultura, Malaysia’s Chicano Culture Appreciation Gathering featuring a fashion display, dance, and DJ performances. Attendees enjoyed food from various vendors, an automotive flea market, product launches, and a Test Ride Zone featuring brands like Royal Enfield, Vespa, Aprilia, and Harley-Davidson.

Instead of the traditional outdoor festival, the SoundCircus Takeover returned as an indoor event in Hall A, featuring performances by Spider, Gerhana Ska Cinta, Salam Musik, and others. The event’s lucky draw gave away a trip to the 32nd Annual MOONEYES Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2024, which was won by Fitri Wahyudi B Suparno, and a modified Honda Jazz, awarded to Muhammad Farish B Mohd Fadzil.

The Best of Show motorcycle, PA’DIN MUSA’s 1969 Harley-Davidson Shovelhead, won a package trip to the Yokohama show as the Guest of Honour. In the Invitational Bike Build Off, FNG Works, with Irwann Cheng, won both the public choice and jury pick awards for their RXZ Twin Boss V2.

Other notable winners included Norkhairi for Custom Kings by Harley-Davidson and Khairul Azimin, also for Custom Kings. The Best Marketplace award went to Nanostix, while Best Display Car was won by BWB, and Best Display Motorcycle by Hills Angels.
