In a year marked by exceptional business performance, BMW Group Malaysia celebrated the delivery of over 15,000 units of BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad vehicles in 2023. This accomplishment reinforces the premium automaker’s stronghold as Malaysia’s Number One Premium Automaker for the fourth consecutive year.
As part of their 20th Year Anniversary in the country, BMW Group Malaysia not only excelled in overall vehicle deliveries but also emerged as the leading Premium Electric Vehicle Provider. Over 3,600 electrifying units of BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad vehicles were delivered, constituting an impressive 24.5% of all deliveries and reflecting a remarkable 136% growth compared to the previous year. This brings the total of premium electrified BMW vehicles on Malaysian roads to nearly 30,000, contributing significantly to the future of electrified mobility in the country.
The BMW brand achieved the successful delivery of nearly 11,700 premium luxury vehicles, while MINI, Malaysia’s sophisticated compact premium automotive brand, recorded a notable growth of 42%, delivering more than 1,700 vehicles. BMW Motorrad experienced an upward growth of 13%, delivering over 1,500 motorcycles. Overall, there was an almost 4% increase in total deliveries across the BMW Group portfolio from the year 2022.
BMW Group’s performance in Malaysia mirrors the brand’s global success, with over 2.5 million vehicles delivered worldwide, setting a new all-time high sales record. The share of electrified vehicles from the BMW Group portfolio also experienced exponential growth in 2023, constituting 15% of overall BMW Group deliveries globally.
September 2023 marked a turning point as BMW Group Malaysia took the lead in the Electric Vehicle segment in Malaysia, surpassing its total number of electric vehicles delivered in 2022 within the first eight months of 2023 alone. The year concluded with over 3,600 fully electric BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad vehicles delivered, emphasiSing the company’s commitment to Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure.
To support the progressive adoption of electric vehicles, BMW Group Malaysia expanded its public charging network nationwide, offering over 1,700 charging facilities through strategic partnerships. Plans for further infrastructure expansion are in place for 2024.
In 2023, BMW Group Malaysia introduced 19 new models and variants to its portfolio, including eight fully electric vehicles. The BMW iX xDrive 40, leading the portfolio of electric vehicles, found its way to over 1,100 new owners in the year.
The success of BMW Group Malaysia’s portfolio was further underscored by the delivery of over 2,600 units of the BMW 3 Series and the BMW X range of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs), with the BMW X5 leading the pack with nearly 1,300 deliveries.
MINI’s outstanding growth was attributed to the high demand for the MINI Countryman, accounting for over 62% of deliveries for the MINI portfolio. The MINI Electric also gained popularity, constituting over 26% of MINI vehicles delivered.
BMW Motorrad, with over 700 new Adventure motorcycles on the roads, witnessed success, particularly with the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure and the BMW R 1250 RT.
BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia reported financing over 5,000 BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad vehicles in 2023, including over 1,100 fully electric vehicles. This represented over 32% of vehicles delivered, with a substantial growth of 40% in contracts signed for BMW & MINI Easy Drive financing programmes.
In terms of customer satisfaction, BMW Group Malaysia earned a spot among the Top 3 countries globally for their net promoter score across all three brands, showcasing the strong support and commitment from the premium automaker’s network of dealers and loyal customer base. The net promoter score for sales reached 98 for the MINI brand and 97 for both the BMW and BMW Motorrad brands, while service-related scores stood at 97 for BMW and BMW Motorrad and 98 for MINI.
