Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has unveiled the locally-assembled GLC, building on the success of the earlier launch of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC. This locally assembled GLC is produced at the brand’s production facility in Pekan, Pahang.
The new GLC boasts the signature Mercedes-Benz SUV design, with the AMG Line variant adding a sporty touch to the exterior. Its body features a seamless surface with defined edges along the sides, emphasizing the proportions and muscular wheel arches while maintaining elegance and off-road capability.
Equipped with aluminium roof rails and stylish running boards, the GLC’s AMG body styling includes a sporty front apron with distinctive air intakes and chrome trim, complemented by a diffuser-style rear apron. The Panoramic sliding sunroof enhances the interior’s brightness. This large sunroof adds a unique visual element from the outside, contributing to the vehicle’s sense of exclusivity.
The GLC’s sporty and confident appearance includes a wide track, sleek 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light alloy wheels, and a radiator grille featuring the distinctive Mercedes-Benz pattern. The rear design features a simulated chrome underguard, chrome tailpipe trims, and two-part rear lights with a three-dimensional design, connected by a glossy black trim element.
Notably, the new GLC is equipped with Digital Light technology, which continuously adjusts road illumination based on various factors such as lighting conditions, traffic, road layout, and weather. This results in the best visibility for the driver without compromising the visibility of other road users.
The GLC 300 4MATIC is offered as a single variant featuring the sporty AMG Line interior, providing a tangible sense of sportiness throughout the vehicle.
Inside, the AMG Line interior boasts several distinctive features, including Artico man-made leather upholstery in black, Microcut microfibre accents, and AMG sports pedals. The multifunction sports steering wheel, wrapped in nappa leather, features a unique design with horizontal double spokes and a flattened bottom section, drawing inspiration from motorsport and enhancing the dynamic aesthetics of the cockpit.
The dashboard is thoughtfully designed, with the upper section resembling a wing-like profile and showcasing newly designed flattened round nozzles, reminiscent of aircraft engine nacelles. Below, there is a generously sized trim area that seamlessly blends into the curved centre console, finished with a metal texture.
Positioned directly in front of the driver, a high-resolution 12.3-inch display screen appears to float freely above the wing profile and trim area. Additionally, the central 11.9-inch display seamlessly rises from the centre console without any visible joints, creating a floating effect above the trim area. Both the dashboard and display surfaces are subtly angled towards the driver, ensuring optimal visibility and convenience.
The GLC is equipped with the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, enhancing its digital capabilities and intelligence. The full-screen navigation system provides drivers with optimal route guidance, enriched by the MBUX Augmented Reality feature. Audiophiles can enjoy an elevated audio experience with the premium Burmester 3D surround sound system, featuring 15 high-performance speakers meticulously tuned to complement the vehicle’s interior.
Thanks to an increased rear overhang, the GLC offers a significantly larger luggage capacity of 620 litres, catering to daily use, family trips, and various transport needs. Loading and unloading are made hassle-free with Hands-free access, allowing the tailgate to open and close through a contactless function, activated by a kicking motion beneath the rear bumper.
The GLC is equipped with the new parking package, complete with a 360-degree camera and the capabilities of Active Parking Assist with Parktronic. This combination ensures optimal visibility from all angles and simplifies the entire parking process. In off-road mode, the GLC’s 360-degree camera provides a “transparent bonnet” view on the central display, offering a virtual perspective beneath the front of the vehicle, including the front wheels and their steering position.
The GLC 300 4MATIC model boasts a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with a rated output of 258hp at 5,800 rpm and a substantial torque of 400Nm, available in the range of 2,000 to 3,200 rpm. Additionally, it features an electric motor with a rated output of 23hp and a torque of 200Nm. This combination results in an impressive acceleration of 0-100km/h in just 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 240km/h. The car has a kerb weight of 1,925kg and can accommodate a payload of up to 585kg.
