Malaysians recently got to experience the launch of the smart #1 and we had the opportunity to test out both the Premium and Brabus trims. Now, smart is releasing thorough details about the European smart #3 SUV and introducing a new special edition model with standout and exclusive features in advance of IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich.
We now have the specifications for the Smart #3 SUV. The more powerful Smart #3 Brabus has a fearsome 422hp thanks to two electric motors, one on each axle. The standard model has 268hp produced by a single electric motor. The standard Smart #3 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in only 5.8 seconds, while the Brabus model completes the same task in just 3.7 seconds.
On the WLTP test cycle, the Smart #3 with the single-motor that is most efficient, has a range of 455 km. However, as with electric vehicles nowadays, more power means a lesser range, except for the BYD Dolphin which provides power and distance in a single variant. The dual-motor smart #3 variant offers only 435km of range, which is not too bad. With a DC fast-charging capacity of 150 kilowatts for speedy recharging, the Smart #3 can quickly recharge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The manufacturer is introducing a special edition trim to celebrate the brand’s 25th anniversary as part of its offerings at the IAA Mobility exhibition. Based on the top-tier Brabus model, this limited edition has a panoramic galaxy roof, updated LED headlights, striking red highlights, and unique two-tone leather seats in black and white with integrated headrests.
Both the Brabus model and the 25th Anniversary Edition will come with high-end interiors loaded with modern amenities, such as a 12.8-inch touchscreen display paired with a 9.2-inch HD digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch head-up display, and a premium Beats audio system with 13 speakers.
The Smart #3 small SUV is scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2023 after making its premiere at the IAA Mobility exhibition, with European consumers having access to it beginning in 2024. These models’ prices have not yet been made public. The #3 was presented back in April for the first time at Auto Shanghai 2023, so we should anticipate its debut in the Malaysian market soon.
