The new special edition Kia EV looks like a bright green EV6 model. Although the car is mostly hidden in the preview, you can still make out its distinct shape and headlights, possibly indicating a signature green EV6 GT version.
Last August, Kia introduced the powerful EV6 GT with 576hp, which can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. To demonstrate its capability, Kia pitted the EV6 GT against a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder, and the EV6 outperformed both of them at the starting line.
The EV6 GT is powered by a 77.4kWh battery and features a front motor with 214hp and a rear motor with 362hp.
In our market, the EV6 comes with the long range AWD power setup. The rear motor has a power of 221hp and 350Nm of torque, while the front motor delivers 99hp and 255Nm of torque. These motors work together to provide all-wheel drive, resulting in a total system output of 321hp and 605Nm of torque. This setup enables the EV6 to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 183km/h.
While not providing detailed information, the company announced that the limited edition EV6 will introduce a distinctive, style-focused version that exudes sophistication. Limited to only 1,000 units, this variant will feature one-of-a-kind interior and exterior colour combinations.
Although details are scarce, a window sticker was recently revealed on the KiaEVForums, showcasing an EV6 labeled as the “N.A. SUV Of The Year Limited Edition Package.” This suggests that the crossover was awarded the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The model displayed in the sticker sported a Deep Forest Green exterior similar to the teaser. Along with the distinctive paint, the package is said to feature glossy black exterior elements and an exclusive desert beige interior. Notably, the interior includes special badging and a unique dashboard pattern.
Kia is anticipated to unveil a high-performance electric vehicle known as the GT1, boasting a power output exceeding 600hp. This model will be built upon Hyundai’s upcoming “eM” platform. Sources from South Korea suggest that the GT1 will outpace even the EV6 GT, becoming Kia’s swiftest production car. However, its expected release is not anticipated until at least 2025.
