Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has established a one-stop centre (OSC) to manage the disposal of abandoned automobiles.
As reported by The Star, cars, motorcycles, and bicycles were among the vehicles that citizens might turn in, according to MPAJ president Dr Ani Ahmad.
Applications are handled free of charge and within 48 hours, following which MPAJ will pick up the vehicle. To manage all the paperwork, the local council will collaborate with the Road Transport Department and MyEG Sdn Bhd.
The local council had a tough time resolving the issue since it had to follow the rules. MPAJ was the first local authority to launch such a project, which intended to decrease complaints about abandoned automobiles.
Before taking further action, MPAJ must first issue a notice and offer the owner a chance to remove their car. In the event that the owner fails to comply, it is necessary to acquire a court order before the car may be disposed of, although doing so is expensive.
With the new project, MPAJ wants to enlist the assistance of owners, and abandoned cars will be sent to MPAJ depots.
