Three years after its launch, the fourth-generation Kia Sorento has undergone an early mid-lifecycle modification. The midsize SUV, which was unveiled in Korea, displays Kia’s most recent and refined style language, with an updated front face and a revamped interior. There are also plans to release international versions later this year with Malaysia in the mix as well.
The reworked front end, which is headlined by a new set of smaller and vertically stacked LED headlights surrounding the tiger-nose grille, is the first thing you’ll notice. Cleaner lines can be seen in the bumper, and the hood is now perfectly in line with the nose.
This redesign mimics the style of the newly updated Picanto and the EV9 flagship SUV, and it’s anticipated that other Kia models will soon adopt this design language.
With the exception of a redesigned rear bumper, new Kia logos, and significantly modified LED taillights that now have joined clusters, the remainder of the exterior is untouched. In order to complete the revamped appearance, the manufacturer has also launched a new alloy wheel design and a number of new exterior colours.
Inside, the dashboard now has a more streamlined structure created by Kia designers, with smoother lines for a more contemporary look. The new, huge, curved display, which has twin 12.3-inch panels and flawlessly incorporates the most recent infotainment software, is the main feature. The interior ambience and user experience are improved by thinner temperature vents below the screen, a new ambient lighting stripe, and updated climate controls that are similar of the EV6.
An additional feature included is the fingerprint authentication system, which is located on the centre console. It gives the owner fast access to start the car, enable valet mode, and process safe payments.
Additionally, the new upholstery choices now consist of the black/olive brown combination with leather-wrapped seats.
The redesigned Kia Sorento will be available in Korea’s domestic market in a variety of engine configurations, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid models, with both 2WD and 4WD choices for the hybrid variant. It’s also predicted that the plug-in hybrid would debut in other markets.
When Kia discloses prices for the Korean market in the middle of August, specific details about the updated SUV are anticipated to be made public. Closer to home, we saw the local launch of the 2023 Kia Sorento back in March with prices starting from RM211,498 and the Kia Niro which is priced at RM255,888.
