After the E34 M5 Touring from the late 1980s/early 1990s and the E60 M5 Touring from the 2000s, BMW has revealed that a third M5 Touring is being developed.
Currently, test drives for the brand-new high-performance sedan from BMW M GmbH are being completed on public roads, BMW Group proving grounds, and racetracks all over the world.
The Touring model will include a completely new, largely electrified drive system, just like the upcoming BMW M5 Sedan. It will also feature a M-typical performance characteristics and finely tuned chassis technology enhanced by cutting-edge systems.
The manufacturer also unveiled the first images of a prototype that has been camouflaged. The launch has been scheduled for 2024.
A few of the technological advances that have repeatedly redefined top performance in a sedan that is unquestionably suitable for daily use include the M TwinPower Turbo technology and high-revving characteristics, the compound brake system with M Carbon Ceramic brakes, and M xDrive four-wheel drive. The seventh generation of the BMW M5 takes up on this – with innovations for an even more intense performance experience.
In the coming days, testing of the first prototypes of the new BMW M5 Touring will start in city traffic as well as on rural and interstate highways near Munich and at the BMW M GmbH headquarters in Garching, Germany.
Though the M5 Sedan will most likely be introduced to Malaysia, there is little to no chance that the Touring version will be offered here.
