Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, stated on Tuesday that the electric vehicle manufacturer plans to invest in India “as soon as humanly possible.”
Musk’s remarks came during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York while Modi was on a state visit to the country where Musk briefed Modi on the strategy for establishing a manufacturing base in India.
Musk thanked the Prime Minister and hoped that there will be an announcement about this matter in the not-too-distant future.
Modi visited a Tesla facility in California a few years ago, according to Musk, who described himself as “a fan” of the Indian prime minister.
According to Musk, India has significant potential for a sustainable energy future that includes solar energy, stationary battery packs, and electric cars. Musk, who is also the CEO of SpaceX, said the company also intends to offer Starlink satellite internet service to India.
