UMW Toyota Assures Safety For All-New Toyota Vios 2023

A recent issue with Daihatsu’s rigged safety crash test that involved the AC100 generation 2023 Toyota Vios (also known as Yaris Ativ in Thailand) and D74A 2023 Perodua Axia has caused distress amongst owners of these vehicles.

Perodua recently released a statement assuring the safety of the new Axia. Today, UMW Toyota also issued a statement that the sales of the All-New Toyota Vios will continue as there are no issues with the safety standards and quality of the vehicle.

President of UMW Toyota Motor, Datuk Ravindran K. said, “For customers who have booked their All-
New Toyota Vios or are interested in purchasing it, we would like to assure you that the All-New Toyota Vios model complies with all safety regulations and there is no compromise to the quality of the vehicles.”

This follows the statement released by Daihatsu Co Ltd. on 28 April 2023 highlighting a procedural
irregularity on the testing of four models, one of which includes the All-New Toyota Vios.

Subsequent testing has validated that the vehicle meets the UN-R95 certification and there is no need for the Toyota Vios to be recalled as sales of the vehicle continue without disruption.

“We sincerely apologise for any distress caused to our customers and we wish to assure everyone of the
safety and quality of our vehicles. Our commitment to our customers’ safety has always been and remains our topmost in our priority”, he added.

All the necessary passive and active safety features, including some cutting-edge Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) features, are present in the all-new Toyota Vios. All of those features, such as the ISOFIX tether system, front DVR with smartphone connectivity, pre-collision system (PCS), lane departure warning (LDW), and 3D panoramic view monitor, are carried over to the 2023 Vios.

Both the E and G models come with a three-year Toyota vehicle telematics system (VTS), which enables you to monitor and manage some of the car’s operations right from your smartphone.

This generation adds lane keeping control (LKC), auto high beam (AHB), and adaptive cruise control (ACC) to the TSS feature set. However, only the top G variant offers these.
