Milltek Sport has developed a performance exhaust system to enhance the sound, weight, and driving dynamics of one of the most thrilling sports cars of the year, the Lotus Emira.
By collaborating with Litchfield to design a custom exhaust system for the renowned tuner’s supercharged 3.5-liter V6 manual-powered launch edition, Milltek Sport was able to expedite the construction of its newest exhaust.
The Milltek Sport system excels in terms of durability and installation simplicity thanks to the use of factory mounting points and the use of aircraft-grade T304L stainless steel for the exhaust modification.
The OPF (Otto Particulate Filter) back system has higher-flowing 3-inch pipework that ends in left- and right-hand 2.5-inch outlet pipes, and it integrates perfectly with the factory OE (Original Equipment) valve control motor. The stainless steel rear silencer offers a weight savings of 1 kg over the factory part on its own.
The optional plug-and-play Milltek Sport valve control system functions in conjunction with the optional OPF bypass pipe, which is installed on Litchfield’s demonstration vehicle. The rear silencer weighs 2.7 kg less than the original version when the bypass pipe is installed.
The Milltek Sport valve control system allows the valve to entirely bypass the back silencer without the need for additional wiring, enabling the engine to produce its optimum sound.
The Milltek Sport system results in an 18% reduction in back pressure and, despite producing an improved, more aggressive engine tone, won’t pose any problems for clients who want to test the limits of their Lotus Emira on the racecourse.
The Lotus will be within reach of the noise rules of some UK tracks even with the OPF bypass pipe and valves open, while the Emira is completely track day-compliant with the rear silencer.
The systems were created, developed, and manufactured in the business’ Advanced Manufacturing Center in Derby, United Kingdom. Milltek Sport will be able to expedite the manufacture of a comparable, weight-saving technology for the upcoming 2.0-liter turbocharged AMG engine choice thanks to its earlier work on the system for the V6 Lotus Emira.
