BMW has submitted more than 40 applications to register the names for its upcoming cars, including the names of its i118 to the iX760, and M350 as trademarks.
The 48 trademark applications combine names beginning with I “X,” “iX,” or “M,” followed by a number, into four-letter or number-defined categories. It’s likely that “I” stands for electric vehicles, such as the i7, “X” for crossovers and SAVs, and “iX” for an electric SAV, like the one in the current market.
The current BMW vocabulary contains endings like “d,” I “e,” “sDrive,” “xDrive,” and “MPerformance.” When the iX560 goes into production, it may become the iX560 xDrive. What’s still unknown though is if non-electric vehicles will use the same trim stages.
BMW has also requested the M350 trademark. The lack of an “I” in the name hints that the M350 will be a combustion-powered vehicle almost surely to take the place of the present M340i.
German media outlets reported that Mercedes-Benz and Audi doesn’t plan to release new ICE vehicles after 2025. Perhaps BMW is driving on a different path when it comes to powerplants
According to CarScoops, these are some of the trademarks that BMW has filed for with the German Trade Mark and Patent Office:
Automakers constantly file trademark applications all over the world so we shall wait and see if these trademarks are approved and hope that something should come of this.
