In a statement released today, Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM) and the highway concessions welcome the recommendations of YB Minister of Public Works regarding the implementation of the open toll payment system.
Taking into account the environment of the current toll system, LLM and highway concession companies will collaborate to ensure a smooth implementation of the open toll payment system.
LLM said that “the implementation of this open toll payment system is also an early initiative for the transition towards the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system that is being actively worked on at the moment.”
According to Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the government would perform an MLFF proof of concept (POC) evaluation on the system by the end of October 2023 before it is implemented for all highways in the country.
The POC’s initial trial site has been designated to be at the Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya).
Besraya is one of the five highways that will start accepting credit and debit cards for toll payments by September as part of the previously announced open toll payment system.
“This is the right step in the government’s efforts to provide options and facilities to users for the purpose of paying tolls on the highway,” LLM said.
“LLM always welcomes views from road users and the ongoing dedication and support are much appreciated in helping to improve the performance of toll motorways,” LLM added.
